Hi all,
My DD is soon to switch rooms to make way for Baby #2. They will both be on the 1st floor, but our bedroom is on the 2nd floor. What do you all do to keep your toddler's inside their rooms for safety? Locking the door seems logical, but it makes me nervous in case there's a fire, etc...

Any/all ideas welcome, just curious to hear about what you all do!

Thanks,
Lenore

A baby gate?

I wouldn't lock the door either for the fire/ safety reason or if she just needs you. Also, you will have to consider what you will do when dd learns to use the potty and may need access to the potty in th middle of the night.

It took our ds a while to figure out the knob so that bought us enough time till we could really talk to him about rules, etc..

It could work to just explain to her that when she wakes up she needs to come up and get you first thing. My ds understood that rule pretty well.
