DS (2.5 yrs old) was taking 2 hour naps until 2 weeks ago when he figured out how to climb out of his crib. We have put a gate across his door, but he still roams around his room (reads, yells, climbs on windowsill). He gets very tired later in the day so I think that he still needs a nap...he just doesn't want to.

I would like to have him in his room every day for some quiet time (and the opportunity to nap). What is a reasonable amount of time to have him in there?

We shoot for 1 hour, but it usually turns out to be more like 45 min. I am sure this is just a phase your little one is going through. I would give it a week or two and your child will likely get back on track. Good luck!

When my kids give up naps, they have a 60 to 90 minute quiet time every day.
