Anyone know where to find a good, quality captain's bed? My mom is buying a new bed and dresser for DS for his birthday, and we've decided a captain's bed is the way to go due to the tiny size of his room. She lives in NC and we live in MD, so she's told me to find some online, get the manufacturer and model # and get her a list and she'll find a store there that sells them, since it'll be cheaper to get it delivered here from there than to buy up here. (Don't know whether that's true or not, but whatever.)

Thanks!

We have a captains bed (white, full size) and love it. The brand is Stanley -Young America and we have the Starlight colection - it comes in "boy" finish too but has a different collection name. The quality is great - dove tailed drawers, etc. They have a website with all the details. We bought it at a local baby store and got 40% off list retail which was the best I could find. Furniture Land South in NC caries Stanley kids furniture.

We've done the NC furniture thing (used to live in MD too) - you are supposed to pay tax to MD and sometimes they catch the delivery truck and send you a letter saying you owe it but sometimes you get by. I live in PA now and we have to pay tax at time of purchase so with both tax and shipping costs it's no longer any cheaper than buying up here.

We've been really happy with our DS's bed. We bought it at a local furniture store 2 years ago and it's held up great. There is an option to do drawers or a trundle underneath. We chose drawers but may go back and buy a trundle for DD if we don't move anytime soon. It's the Erika Mates Twin Bed and the brand is Canwood. Here is a link to the place we bought it from so you can see a picture.

We just bought bunks for our DS at Wickes. They had some really nice captain's beds. I wanted a captain's bed but it won't work because our DCs will be sharing a room for a couple of years until the oldest is big enough to move downstairs by himself.

I can't speak to the quality, but I was just checking out what looked like a nice (and reasonable) one at this site:
