Hi! DD has several dresses that don't have a diaper cover to go with them. What, apart from her diaper, does she wear under the dress? Nothing?

It depends on the weather. My DD either wears leggings or bike shorts under dresses. She did this before she potty trained and she still does it now that she's 4. As long as she jumps around all day and 'exposes' herself I think it's a good idea to cover up down there.

I agree. I like to put bike shorts under. They keep things covered an busy girls.

We also use bike shorts/capris/leggings, depending on the length and style of the dress. I've been meaning to pick up some plain diaper covers (or something like that) to wear under the few dresses we have that don't look as good with the shorts, etc. under them, and didn't come with matching diaper covers.

Thanks everyone for the "bike shorts" mention -- that's perfect!

Where do you find your bike shorts at? I'd love to get some in a variety of colors but haven't seen many at the stores.

Thanks!

Gymboree has them. They have cute 'lettuce edging' on them and since they are basics they almost never sell out right away so you can get them in a variety of solids and patterns on big discount during sales. They make good filler for Gymbucks earnings/redemption too.

Hanna Andersson also has very nice ones (much better quality than Gymboree) and they're on sale right now for $12 ($10 instore):

I bought a package of 3 white diaper covers from children's place and use them when the dress doesn't have a matching cover.

I've been able to find a pretty good selection of bike shorts at Walmart; they are $2.88 (probably on sale now) and I've been pairing them with Baby Lulu tee dresses.

I used to worry about the same problem, but found the bike shorts were cute but kind of expensive and too hot for summers here. So I just put panties ( she 2.5yo so I bough 2T/3T ones) over her pull-up diapers. I guess if you use regular diaper you could get the next size up. She can still get them off easy as she is potty training now, and they are comfy. I just bought a 6 pack of plain pastel ones at walmart or target, and they last me all week.
good luck
