Much to my amazement, DS has pooped on the potty twice this week. He has really seemed to be afraid of it, even though he's been peeing on the potty for about a month. However, now what he does is go a little, jump up to look at it, and sometimes he sits back down and sometimes he annouces he's done and ends up going in his pull up later. Any suggestions for getting him to finish the job, so to speak.

As an aside, he's also slept through the night almost all week. I'm practically delirious with sleep!

TIA,

We've been dealing with similar problem here :) DD has been peeing on the potty for months, but refuses to poop there. Even when I noticed that she is "in the process", she would scream and cry when I tried to put her on the potty.

A week ago, I found this book at the bookstore and DD LOVES it! http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0916291456/qid=1098224159/sr=2-3/ref=pd_ka_b_2_3/102-6308565-3225760
It seems that talking about poop (several times a day, sorry if TMI) helped reduce her anxiety. Today she finally sat on the potty (and finished the job) when I noticed that she needed to go. After that she was so proud of herself and asked me not to flush it, so daddy can see ;)

ETA: I changed the story a little when I read it to DD. I gave the boy a name and talked about him like he is one of DD's friends. We talked about why he is a "big boy" and how he keeps his pants clean.

Well, he is a male, so how about a good book to keep him occupied during the wait? LOL.

It's funny because my sister was surprised (knowing my personality) that I didn't already own that book!

However, I am happy to report, that yesterday he decided it was time to complete the process so to speak, and, knock on wood, so far today has continued.

Thanks

LOL! That is a great book, it is of course in Ds' "library," as well as Once Upon a Potty for Boys.
