I have a 2 1/2 year old son and he is 38" tall and weighs 35 pounds. He has totally outgrown his Britax roundabout so today we bought him the Jupitar Komfort Kruiser. We were told at the store that as long as he weighs at least 33lbs. and is not wiggly in his carseat then this booster would be fine for him to use. Since he is not 40lbs. yet, should he not be in this seat even though it fits him well???

Hello,

It is recommended that kids stay in a 5-point harness until at least 40 pounds for maximum safety. Even so, it is acceptable to use a booster abit earlier under a few conditions. First, the child must be above the minimum ratings from the manufacturer. For the Komfort Kruiser this is 33 pounds and 37" tall, so your son meets those requirements. Second, the child absolutely must be mature enough to remain seated properly in a lap AND shoulder belt. Like you said, he cannot wiggle out to the side, be leaning forward, put the shoulder belt behind his back, etc. If he can remain seated properly the whole trip, then the Kruiser should be OK. If not, you should consider a combination booster that has an internal harness to 40 pounds, then converts to a booster beyond 40 pounds.

I hope that helps!
