car seat expiration???

I have 2 RA from when my oldest child was born in 2000. We are having our third very soon and want to know if these seats are still safe to use. Is it true that you should not use a car seat after 5 years of its manufacturing date?

Britaxes have a full 6 year lifespan (you can check for that at www.britaxusa.com, and it should be in your manual) so you do have a little time with those RA's, up to almost 2 years, depending on the month of manufacture)
