I found out that the height limit is 40 inches. When does a child typically surpass the limit? My DS is approximately 36 inches tall at 2. Where is a toddler's head supposed to hit on the seat? I think he's outgrowing this seat but I'm not sure. Thanks!

Is he still rf or already ff?

The rules of thumb are...

- When rf, the top of his head must be at least 1" below the plastic shell of the carseat and the harness slots are at or below the shoulders

- When ff, the top of his ears must be at most at the same level or below the top of the carseat and the harness slots must be at the same level or higher than the shoulders

With the listed height of 40", there is 4" of torso length for your son to do. Torso length takes a long time to reach though. But every child is different, so check the above rules for height and fit of your child to his carseat.
