Hi,

I just needed a sanity check. I think we need to move my DD out of her MA, but I'm not sure.

My 3.5 yo DD is 42" tall and about 41 lbs. The top slots on the Marathon are slightly below her shoulders, but her ears are still about 4-6 inches from the top edge of the seat (her knees still don't reach the edge of the seat). Is she officially out of the MA or can we wait until her ears reach the top of the seat which means that the top slots will be well below her shoulders?

Thanks,
Karen

Wow, big girl :0 :).

Here's my dd at age 5.5...6 months ago, and her shoulders are STILL at/below the slots http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/FFAlbum/Sarah.aspx (ok, her nickname is Bitsy for a reason, lol...she's only 45 inches at age 6!).

But you know...with such big kiddos, I'd start looking for a deal on a Husky about, say, now ;). Your dd would be like Hayley in it pretty soon http://www.cpsafety.com/articles/FFAlbum/Hayley.aspx

Fortunately, their legs do more growing than torsoes at this age...and I wouldn't worry to much about how she's fitting in the Marathon for the next couple months (head support is the most important issue... as long as her head is supported, she's well protected in that seat, even a her shoulders are a bit above the top slots).

Good luck!

Julie,

Thanks again for your input. My DD rides in the husky in the minivan for day to day trips. The soon to be replaced (?) MA is in my husband's car to take her to school. We were looking at the Graco Turbobooster as a replacement for the MA as well as a lighter seat for travel. (When we looked at the Parkway, the wings were too close to her face and she looked unomfortable.) Any other thoughts?

My kids never complain about the headwings in the Parkway, and I like that they have actually been tested for side impact protection...the Graco hasn't, but it is easy to dismantle and travel with, and surely all that EPS foam IS safe :)... I also love the RideSafer Travel Vest for travel... parents think it's dorky, but kids really do love it http://uccomama-ivil.tripod.com/id11.html
