I've seen the Husky referred to as a booster, but looking on Britax's website, it looks like it only works as a 5-point harness. I definitely want that feature now (3.5 yr old who is 40 lbs and over 43" tall), but not sure I want to keep him harnessed until he's 8. Does this convert to a bpb also, or would I need another seat for that?

Also - I've read this is a huge seat. Does anybody have any input on whether this fits into a Toyota Corolla (1997)? It will be right behind my husband's seat, and considering he is 6'5" (DS obviously takes after him for height!) the seat is all the way back. It doesn't leave a lot of room for DS's legs now (in an Evenflo Chase?), so I'm concerned this might be too big?

Thanks,
Valerie

It's big, but not totally enormous...it fits fine in older Corollas :) (won't be any less legroom than the Chase has, either) Put your older ds in it for a few years, then hand it down to your younger one...no need to use it the whole 6 years for one kid (though my 8 yo really DOES like his... and we'll use it for him for another couple years, no question). People who call it a booster are just confused... You'll need another booster later, but it can be a $15 backless model if you want, so no need to stress about continued big buys in car seats :).

You WILL need to add a top tether to that car. It's not required with the Husky till 50 pounds, but it's a good idea to always tether it (and all seats...top tethers add a lot of safety).

The part number that you can give the dealer, in case they have no idea what you're talking about is:
73709-12010 calle "Bracket sub-assembly, tether anchor" and should cost about $12.... here's what the part will look like, and approximately how/where it's installed http://www.carseatdata.org/Geo_Prism.html

Hope that helps... There's rumours that the Cosco Apex is coming out this month, but no one has seen one yet..maybe if you can hang out an extra couple of weeks and wait to see it (it harnesses to 65 pounds, then becomes a booster to 100, and is a little smaller and lighter thn the Husky, but not much cheaper, and you'll lose some of the Britax quality that the extra $30 for the Husky would get you... but still, just something to think about if it comes out... http://www.showeryourbaby.com/coap65cocars.html )

Thanks for the information - I'll be buying a Husky on-line today. I checked DS's weight at my doctor's appt today, and their scale says he weighs 41 lbs! I swear I just checked him a month ago when we moved the car seats around to add in the infant seat - he was only 38 lbs then!

Thanks for the part # info - we did go through that when he first went forward facing, and just moved the kit over from the center to the driver's side with the car-seat shuffle. Without latch in an older car, the tether gives so much more peace of mind!

Now the only question is whether to buy two Huskies now while I can find them on sale, or hope some other solution presents itself by the time #2 needs DS's MA in the other car....

<high 5> for having your tether parts already! I just love when someone's a step ahead of me :D

Maybe beg for a 'twins discount' to get 2 Huskies cheaper? Couldn't hurt to try :)
