first bike -- wheel size

I think I put this in the wrong forum originally, so I'm reposting it here.

I just started looking at bicycles with training wheels for ds, who is 6 months now, and the wheels seem to come in 10" and 12". Does anyone know what the difference is? I got a bike at Target last night (radio flyer 36) with 10" wheels because it looked sturdy and was on sale, but I want to return it if that size won't be optimal.

It's going to be a long time before he can ride it! :)

The difference is how large the child has to be to use it effectively. The 10" will be usable sooner, so I think you did fine.
