My daughter LOVES to take pictures. Unfortunately, the digital camera does NOT make a good toy. :P

I have searched high and low and cannot seem to find a toy camera. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, just something that she can pretend to take pictures with. I don't really want one of those real cameras for kids -- she is only 21 months and I'd rather something that is a little bit more fun for play.

Thanks in advance,

Michelle

I couldn't find a fun play one either, at least at a store. I didn't look online. We ended up with a Battat real kid camera that I got at a garage sale. I also have a funky disposible camera that I got at Target after Christmas last year (it's colorful). I'm going to let him play with that if he wants.

I wanted to get one for DD too, but hoping to get some feedback from here first. I saw one today in the One Step Ahead catalog for $15.95 (more than I wanted to pay once you add sh/h charges). Here's the link:

Hi! I bought this exact camera for my 2 1/2 year old little boy for Christmas and he loves it! It's very durable and is often on the floor being stepped around and on and it works great, with no cracks. He likes that it says "cheese" or "smile" depending on what button you push. When you push the picture-taking button, it clicks, a red light flashes on, and the window facing him has six rotating pencil-drawn pictures (a dog, a man), that rotate with each click. The front part facing out is a mirror. I found it in a toy specialty store so I didn't have to pay shipping. It was around $13. I think it's by Small World Toys, so you may be able to call local toy specialty stores and ask if they carry it, or perhaps you could do a search to find it with it free shipping somewhere online. I love Toys R Us but they do not carry this camera.

DD has the FP Photo Fun Learning Color Click Camera. It isn't a real camera. It's for ages 6 months and up. She is mildly interested in it, but at 14 months doesn't realize it's a pretend camera.

Here are a few other options:

There's a wooden one: http://www.kraftymetoys.com/?product=79437&view=all

And one with a clown: http://store.babycenter.com/product/toys/by_age/12-24month/4845 (also available here: http://store.yahoo.com/kidsurplus/bt037.html)

And a cloth one (which your daughter is probably too advanced for, but I suppose it depends what you want): http://store.yahoo.com/kidsurplus/fir2810.html

Unfortunately, I can't review any of them. I hope that you find what you are looking for.
