I'm sure this topic has been covered before, but I couldn't find anything in numerous searches I did..

Anyways, it's early days yet but I'm looking for recommendations for books for my son Jack about the new baby on the way. We haven't told him yet but I have a feeling I'm going to be starting to show soon, so I'd like to be prepared.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

We enjoyed Talk Baby by Harriet Zeifert the best. It is about a little boy who has a new baby sister. We also have The Berenstein Bears New Baby Book, and Will you mind the baby, Davey?

My sister recently had her second baby and I found this book and gave it to my nephew (also a Jack) at her baby sprinkle. He still doesn't sit too well for story time but has listened to it a number of times.

The main selling point for me was that it never gives the new baby a gender. Every other book I found was about a brother/sister and since we didn't know what baby #2 would be I liked this one the best.

I'm a big brother by Joanna Cole - my first tinyurl post, hopefully it works!

I got two books for Arielle to help explain to her about Daliya's arrival (thanks Helen!:) )

and I'm a Big Sister http://tinyurl.com/22x9x

I really like both books a lot, and read them to Arielle all the time in the three months before Daliya was born. Since she didn't turn two until three days after her sister was born, I'm not sure just how much she understood, but she enjoyed reading them and looking at the pictures. We spent a lot of time discussing the emotions that the big sisters/brothers have in the books. Both books came to her crib an awful lot--a true testament of her fondness for a book. The girl in the Big Sister book talks about how she can eat pizza, apples, and ice cream (unlike the baby) and Arielle tells me this all the time.

Hope this helps!

My DS and I liked the Little Critter book. It was really simple book. The new baby did nothing but sleep and cry and Little Critter had trouble figuring what to do...
