At what age did your child begin playing with (and enjoying) felt boards?

Thanks!

DS seems to just be beginning to really enjoy them. Previously, he would enjoy the pieces but not put them on the board. However, he seems to prefer plain shapes and putting them together to make objects (o.k., two things - house and train). He has a Thomas set, but he prefers to make his own "trains" out of rectangles and circles.

I don't know that I have ever seen a felt board. Are they something you buy or somthing you make? I'm imagining something like colorforms but felt instead of plastic, is that right?

DS has liked his feltboard since we bought it at around 20 months. He has Thomas pieces that he loves. He likes taking them on and off the board. I am just starting at 26 months to make up a story to go along with whatever pieces we're using.

We bought ours, but you could definitely make one if you wanted. Felt Kids is a common brand. It is a stiff surface covered with felt. There are various felt pieces that you can put on the board and they "stick". You can make up different stories. Here's a link to various Felt Kids products so you can get an idea.

Thanks, I've actually seen one of the Thomas ones at a local toy store but I didn't know what it was called. Maybe I will put a felt board on DS's Christmas list!
