safety gates for different aged kids

Hi. I have an 11-month old and a 34-month old and need safety gates for the stairs/kitchen area. The problem is I want a gate that will keep out my 11-month old, but one that my older daughter can open and close since she can use the stairs without any problem (like one with a doorknob). Some safety gates are hard for even me to maneuver!

Any suggestions?

I can tell you what I have but not sure your older DD will be able to open.
I have the Kidco Center gate. You have to squeeze the button then lift the handle and gate up a little to open.
