Using Babysitters While On Vacation

My husband and I are going on vacation with our 12-month old. The resort we're staying has babysitting services which my husband says we can use if we want to go to dinner some nights. Has anybody have any experience using such services? It makes me nervous to leave my baby with someone who I didn't hire and didn't check references (especially in Mexico where we're going on vacation). Any advice or tips to assure me would be helpful.

Hmmm, I probably wouldn't do it in Mexico. I might do it here in the U.S., in a place like Disney where there are some well-established services that have good reputations.
