I have been sick and on modified bed rest for the majority of this pregnancy and have finally been cleared to return to normal activity. YEA!!! Laying around all this time has made me feel huge even though I am -1 lb. since getting pregnant (morning sickness and pneumonia will do that do you). I want a workout other than just walking that will help keep me fit through this pregnancy.
TIA! :)

Were you exercising before? If so, you can pretty much do anything that you were doing. I am following my old routine (strength training and cardio) with my personal trainer. I have elmininated abs workouts, I watch to keep my heart rate around 140 and I try to stay off my back for extended lengths of time.

If you were not working out before, then I would recommend starting out slowly, but there's no reason you can't do most exercises.

Some good books are:

Buff Moms to Be
The Everything Pregnancy Exercise Book
Fit Pregnancy for Dummies

They show safe exercises and modifications of exercises to make them more comfortable.

Cathe has two workouts that many ladies on her forum use when pg.

http://www.cathe.com/2004_Basic_Step_+_Body_Fusion_chapters.htm

http://www.cathe.com/launch_video_clips.htm

have any questions about how to adapt these when pg ask away on her message forum, I have linked the forum for those pregnant and postpartum - note some of these ladies were advanced exercisers before they got pregnant so some of them do more advanced workouts as well as these, but feel free to ask them questions. Also there is a lady, Shelia Watkins, who moderates this forum who is founder of Healthy Mom's fitness. She has certifies woman to teach exercises to pregnant moms and so forth, her info:

I tell you about Shelia, so you feel a little more relaxed about finding good solid information on working out pregnant over there. She will answer your questions if you have any.

Here is the book she and others have recommended to read up on when pg:

Lastly here is a workout that my girlfriend really likes to do, she is at month 6 right now and has no problems with it.
