Beth,
Thank you for recommending "Kid's Knitting" to me over on the Yahoo board. It was a great refresher - lots of pics, plus my library had it. Both librarians couldn't have been more helpful - they knit too.
I stopped into a store called "The Wool Basket" here in Duxbury, MA - OMG, I have never seen so much wool/yarn in my life. If anyone is ever in need of something hard to get in the wool dept., let me know! This place had cashmere, al paca (sp?), cotton/wool blends...I spent at least 1/2 hour just touching it all :)

I ended up with some chunky stuff from Chester Farms and a skein from Harrisville Designs. I practiced just knitting a big 'ol square last night and I downloaded the LTK pattern.

Here we go!

I'm glad you like the book, but that wasn't me!!! I've never seen it!

Happy knitting! :)

This is the one:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1885183763/qid=1062383601/sr=8-2/ref=sr_8_2/102-8263914-7942550?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

I glanced at it quickly in a bookstore and it looked nice. But my fav kniitting reference is Vogue Knitting. Very comprehensive and good diagrams.

Hi Linda,

"Kids Knitting" by Melanie Falick ISBN 1-885183-76-3

AND I found a book that I definitely like better:

"How to Knit" by Debbie Bliss ISBN 1-57076-145-0
-great, detailed photos plus projects to make while you're learning- first project's a bag (I'm skipping), second project is a basic tunic sweater that I'm going to make for dd.

I wonder is this books are available on half.com. I'm going to go check.

Have fun,

Hey Linda, if I could just add my 2 cents worth!? I bought the Kids Knitting book last week and I must be a moron because it confused the h*** out of me!!!! I saw a few other good beginner books at Barnes & Noble today when I returned the Kids Knitting book! Just my opinion, but I think there are some better ones out there, I'd try the Vogue book that someone else here recommended. Spend some time and look through them before you buy! I know you are a beginner like me, and this book is supposed to be geared toward kids! My mom finally helped me get started and it really makes a difference if you know someone who can physically show you what to do.
Stacie.
