Hi Mamas- I have some diapers that I want to try to sell. I have no idea what would be a fair price to ask for them. So I was wondering how do you all determine what is a fair price to ask for when selling your used diapers? I guess I am wondering how much do diapers depreciate, is there some kind of depreciation formula to follow. Where is the best place to try to sell used cloth diapers? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need all the help I can get.

TIA-
Gloria

Once you get 50 posts you can join the Yahoo group BBBSwap. This is a yahoo group for buying/selling that only members of these boards are allowed to join.

If you go to Mothering.com and rack up 50 posts you can participate in the Trading Post which is also an awesome place to buy/sell. They get a lot more traffic that BBBSwap. The downside is quite often you don't know the people as well as you do on the BBB.

I know you don't have a lot of posts now. Please keep posting, we would all love to hear what you have to say! You can always post diapers on ebay. Or you can try the Yahoo Group DiaperSWAP. They get a lot of traffic. I've bought and sold a few things from them.

As far as price, first of all I see if anyone else is selling a similar diaper and what they are asking. I then evaluate the quality of what I am selling. I always describe what I am selling as best as I can. Be sure to say if there are stains or any pilling, holes etc. Some lingo you may see is
EC- Excellent condition
VGC - Very good Condition.
PPD- price plus delivery (Meaning you will cover the shipping costs)
If the diaper is practically new and you just don't like it or what not, quite often you can make back nearly what you paid, especially if it is a diaper in demand. If the diaper has been used a lot but is still in very good condition I just knock a few dollars off. I have sold $20 firefly's for $16ppd.

HTH and good luck!

On ebay, you can find other auctions for the type of dipe you're selling, and see what they sold for. Search under your dipe "brand" and completed items. That will help you set a starting bid price. Or, help you know what to ask for in a trading post situation.

Another place to sell that has a of traffic (and where you can get price info.) is the diaperpin.com for sale or trade board--here's a link

Gloria,
MDC's rules are 50 posts and 60 days membership before you can participate in the trading post, so if you're hoping to sell quickly, you're probably doing the right thing in looking at other places to post.

And you'll sell something- don't worry! ;)
