I had a ME that I had only been using for a few weeks and it smelled very stong of amonia. I rinsed, rinsed, rinsed and the odor is finally gone. After reading about detergent build up, I have determined that to be my problem. So, thank you all for your help!! :D

Yay, glad you figured out what was wrong!! I had a few diapers that smelled funny and weren't absorbing right so I did a strip and it was detergent buildup! Now they are fine again.
