Hi! I sort of asked this in another thread, but I think it got lost. I've done a search of the old threads, but because I'm not sure what keywords I should use, I haven't been able to find anything about this topic. My sister is hoping to have a baby in the next couple of years and she would like to CD, but she doesn't know if it would be practical or cost effective if they live in an apartment with coin operated washing machines in their basement.

Does anyone have any experience with or thoughts about this situation? I'd like to encourage her to CD, but I don't want to do it if it's going to cause more problems than it will solve for her. I think she would like to do it, but only if she has the right kind of encouragement.

Thanks!

I searched for "apartment" in the Butts forum and found a few threads that might be helpful. At least it might give you the names of some people you could email or PM directly who live in aparments. Also, you might want to check over at MDC. I bet there are tons of threads there. Good luck converting your sister! :)

Thanks, Anna! These links were perfect and even though I'm already on the bandwagon, I loved reading these old threads. They were a lot of fun to read. Maybe I can get my sis to become addicted to reading these boards. :) Hmm...she might not thank me, though ;-).

Yep, I use coin-op and can try to answer any questions you might have.
Just let me know.

I will say, that the biggest drag is hauling the diapers to the laundry room. If I was smart, I'd buy a big wagon for our laundry, but I'm not :P

There is actually another couple in our complex who do their own dipe laundry too. The dad was so excited when he saw that we did CD's and washed our own too.

Thanks! Actually, her biggest hurdle right now is that she already hates doing laundry because she hates hauling all of that stuff into the laundry room. As it is, I think she has her husband carry the stuff down there and then she does it. Then she has to stick around or at least really keep good track of time so that she can get to the laundry before it ends up on the counter because someone else needs to use the machine. Hmm...a wagon, huh? You know, if they have an elevator to the laundry room, that's not an entirely bad idea. :)

Encourage her to at least give CD's a whirl. That's what we did. The fact that we didn't have our own laundry was the inital reason we were not going to do CD's. So then I was going to get a service. As I was doing research on a service I came across the world of CD's and all the fun and glorious dipes. I wanted IN!!! We said to ourselves that we will start slowly and see how it goes w/the shared laundry.

I love doing the baby laundry. I love washing and folding his dipes and clothes. It is so much fun that I usually drag a bag of laundry along too and voila, the laundry is almost done. We still have laundry back-ups and on those days when the last thing I want to do is laundry, somehow I still love and manage to to the dipes!
