Disposables: Size Newborn vs. Size 1

DD (3 weeks) is constantly leaking poop out the sides and up her back. I remember DS having this problem when he was this age. Would switching from newborn diapers to Size 1 help? I can't remember when I'm supposed to switch. Her cord already fell off. TIA.

I switched when leaks happened, and it always seemed to help!

Try switching to size 1's. Colin wore size 1's from the beginning (newborns were too small) - and he was a little over 8lbs at birth. If that doesn't work, try a different brand - we had the best luck with Swaddlers at that age, but others find that Huggies work the best!

I would recommend switching. As a previous poster said, we switched sizes whenever the poop leaks started, regardless of what the weight limits said. We also looked for when the elastic around the legs started getting tight. We switched to size 1 right at 2 weeks, after the ped. at our 2 week appt. said we probably should have switched a week earlier!

After switching, we only lasted in size 1's for a few weeks before switching to size 2.
