For some reason lately I've been getting tons of buildup :( I broke down and purchased some calgon to so stripping with, since 3 wash/rinses have still got soap suds. How much to use? Cold or hot water?

Hot water, definitely. When I had to do some serious stripping, I used a capful and a half of Calgon liquid with nothing else in the wash, and then ran a couple of extra cycles with nothing added to get all the crud out of the dipes.

Ooh, all they had was powder, but it did just say plain water softener. Will that still work? I haven't opened it yet, so I can return it if need be. This is serious stink! I even did RLR and they're still stinky, so I just need to rinse the heck out of em.

Lynne, the powder should still work but then I'm less sure how much to use! I guess that a cap is one "dose" of the liquid so I use 1.5 "doses" - so I guess that I'd say to use 1.5 the recommended amount. Clear as mud?

Lynne, I have used both the powder and the liquid. However, I do not normally measure anything! LOL (when I do laundry or when I cook) But the box says to use a 1/2 cup, so I would use at least that, maybe a bit more. And definitely hot water. Do a couple cycles of this.
I use approx. that much every few washes, we have hard water. Hope this helps you, it has really helped me!!
