i heard a rumor that someone on this board may have had some help per a sleep specialist. or maybe had some info they could share. my 3 year old ds has night terrors and bad. my doc cant help me and has referred me to a specialist at chicago's childrens memorial hospital. well of course the wait for an appointment is crazy, first appointment is end of aug! my doc has not seen such a sever case so doesnt want to just let it go as most kids outgrow them. i am not big on medication but we did try it and it doesnt help. dizapam is another option but i dont nor does the doctor feel comfortable with that. he now bangs his head all night and has an "episode" about every other day. sleep is very hard to get around here, he sleeps with me because he walks during the terrors and can get hurt so every time he moves i am up. i didnt mean to make this so long all i wanted was to see if what i heard was true and someone may be able to give me some advice. if nothing else thanks for listening to me unload ;( like i told you way ot!

Aww, HUGS!! I'm so sorry you and your DS is dealing with this right now! I don't have any connections nor any experience with night terrors. However, I do know that there have been people who have written to people like Weissbluth or Ferber and gotten responses/help. I would suggest try posting this in the lounge, as I seem to recall someone talking about contacting one of the sleep specialist doctors and actually getting help over the phone. Maybe you could try something like that?

Anyway, not much help, but I wanted to offer you my support.

If you haven't already, you should post this in the Lounge as well. Even if people don't "know" you there, more people read the Lounge than the Butts.

I hope things work out for you soon. Is there any one who can take turns with you even one night a week so you can get some sleep too? Poor mama, you must feel like a zombie!
