I have been reading, researching, and learning about cloth diapering. I am excited about it, and my dh is on board too!

We are adopting a baby (newborn), so we don't know if we will have a tiny baby or a bigger baby... I'm trying to plan for the 'average' size newborn, and adjust later if needed.

This is what I have so far: 24 infant prefolds, 4 newborn Proraps, 4 small Proraps, 12 size 0 Kissaluvs, and 24 cloth wipes. I got the Euro prefolds from granitesmith, as well as the Basic Proraps. I'm confused about the Proraps - maybe I should have purchased the Classic instead of the Basic???

I know I will probably need more wipes and a diaper tote/pail liner. Is there anything else that you would suggest?

THANK YOU!

I think the difference between the classic and the basic is that the basic is supposed to be industrial strength--it's supposed to hold up better. I had both and I don't remember which one held up better, but I think the classic was a little softer. I'm guessing you would need more wipes, maybe a dozen more. It partly depends on how often you want to wash.

If you have a tiny baby, you might want some preemie prefolds, although Kissaluvs fit our 7 pound baby from the get go. The infant PFs were too big, though. You might want to get a dozen preemie prefolds (I got Euros for those) because they're pretty inexpensive and they can be used as doublers when the baby outgrows it or if the baby never fits them. I started with 3 newborn proraps and 4 small proraps and it turned out that was enough.

I would also suggest adding a couple snappi's. They help contain the poop a bit more so that you're not constantly washing the poop off the covers. I think I got poop on my covers (but never on her clothes) maybe once or twice a day, so not too bad, considering.

If you don't want to dunk, swish, and flush, you might want a minishower, but that's a matter of personal preference. I love ours. :) I actually got a second one on ebay for only $20 shipped (do a search for minishower and bidet) and really like it. In fact, the first one I have is a bit sturdier, but I like the spray action of the second one.

Congratulations and welcome to CD'ing. It really is a lot of fun! :)

You might also throw in a snappi, maybe a fleece cover (lots of moms love the Sugarpeas fleece) and maybe an AIO or a pocket dipe to try too.

Thanks, ladies. I do think I'll buy more wipes, and I like the idea of having some preemie prefolds and a fleece cover.

I didn't buy any snappi's because I bought the Euro prefolds from granitesmith on ebay, and she said they don't work well with snappi's. Should I get some Indian or Chinese prefolds and use the Euros for something else?

I used snappi's with my preemie EPFs and didn't have any problems. Perhaps they might not grab quite as easily, but they certainly held.
