I'm loving my Apron Strings diaper for night time and want more fleece pockets. I thought I'd give another type a try. I've found Ella's fleece pockets and Fancy Pants fleece pockets. Anyone use either of these?

I'd like to know too. I was just looking at fleece pockets last night and had my eye on the Ella and Fancy Pants also :). I'm thinking of trying both. Fancy Pants got good reviews on the Diaper Pin.

I just got a Very Baby Fleece pocket from Bumblebuns. I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it looks really great.

Oh, those look nice, too. Did you get Aplix or snaps? I like that they have a medium/long size. Please let me know how it works!

I'm interested in what you all find out about the fleece pockets. I'm still loving all my cute fitteds with the wool covers, but for a quick change, especially when I'm out and about, a pocket would definitely be preferable. In particular, I'm looking for pockets that fit chunky thighs well, and I prefer two rows of snaps to one. It's one reason why I hope Ruth's experiments in fleece are successful!

I decided just to give them a try. I ordered a royal blue Ella fleece pocket and a red Fancy Pants.

I got my sugar peas fleece cover today. It's too big now. I knew DS was at the bottom of the weight range, but hoped it would fit. Oh well, he'll grow into it, I hope. I keep hearing about babies "thinning out" when they start crawling or walking. He's doing neither yet. I don't need skinnier thighs to work with!

I am really liking pockets for out and about, too. My medium FB are filling in now, since without night time stuffing they fit in the rise again. Not for long, I am sure.

I'll let you know how they work!

Excellent! Kaya has been crawling for a while now and is just starting to cruise, but her overall shape is such that she still has chunky thighs, although her torso is longer and leaner (except after a meal, and then her tummy sticks out :P). I'm guessing that even when she "thins out" her thighs might still be somewhat chunkier--at least I'm hoping that's the case, or else I may have a drawerful of diapers that are too big! Right now, she's on the second outermost snaps on most of her diapers, so hopefully they'll continue fitting. The exception are the benjamuffins, but they have generous crossover tabs, so hopefully they'll fit even after she thins out.

Funny how different babies are. DS has been cruising for a couple of months and is getting brave with letting go and standing. He'll sort of pull with his hands and push with his feet and crawl, but only towards the cordless phone! Nothing else interests him. I am convinced he'll walk before he crawls.

We're primarily on the tightest snaps on everything both at the waist and the thighs. Boy, I wish he got those skinny thighs from me :)

Wow, Andrew is really advanced if he's already cruising! Kaya's only started cruising in the last month. I guess in her case, she really enjoys crawling more. :) Our neighbors son never did crawl though--he just sat and played and one day pulled himself up and shortly after was walking. I think the reason why babies are different is so that we have more than one. :D

He seems to do some things early, like he could sit and play by himself at 4 months. Other things are late. He didn't really roll until 8 months. He could do it, but didn't. Until maybe a month ago, he hated his tummy, so no effort on crawling. He likes to be upright :).

How many do we have to have until we've exhausted the "different baby" idea? :)

Well, not to scare you, but my friend in elementary school was one of 21 children (many triplets and twins) and her mom was aiming for 30 (don't know if she ever made it)! I think she must have started having children at a VERY young age. Scary, isn't it? They were actually a very nice family; they showed them on TV and you had all these children of different ages, including some who were old enough to have their own children. It was chaos, but apparently fun chaos.

Oh my! I have lots of friends who have 10-12 siblings, but I've never heard of 21! Yikes. Unless I start having quads every 1.5 years, I don't think I'll be able to hit 30. How do you even do anything with that many?

Forrest is probably a week or two from full-on walking, and he has never really crawled. He'll army crawl (pretty fast, looks like he's swimming on the floor) if he HAS to, to get to something he wants. Like anything with a cord to yank, orange peels, and beer bottles (empty, of course). He prefers to walk along the walls, though, or furniture, or pushes a laundry basket or his wagon across the wall-less expanses of our family room. He also loves to hitch a ride with you: he grabs your pant leg and follows as you walk slowly around the house. Very cute, and tires him out.

The pant leg trick sounds cute!

We have given up our living room to DS. A week ago, he figured out how to just lean on the walls to walk, as opposed to hanging onto a table or something. He made it from the living room into the kitchen, across the pantry, fridge, cabinets, and stove. We put up a gate to keep him in the living room. Of course, now he has access to the entire living room - he can only get there because of the gate. At least he's safe in there.

Isn't it amazing the things they find that you don't realize are there - cords and stuff?

I tried my Very Baby fleece pocket from Bumblebuns today. Unfortunately DS decided to poop almost right away. I got Aplix. It's very nicely made, so so soft. I will probably get more when I get a chance!

Eileen,

Snapping Turtles have two rows of snaps. And if Diaperworks is open, Julie has great fleece pockets. I have aplix, but she offers snaps as an option as well.

I think that the Calico Baby will make them as well, but you need to e-mail her to ask, they aren't on her site. I remember asking her a while back and they were real reasonable!

Thanks Nita. I'll have to check out Diaperworks. I do have a Snapping Turtle Fleece pocket. The fit is pretty good (not perfect), and it kept her bone dry last night. I had it stuffed with an SEZ night, a microfiber towel, and a fuzbaby hemp. The inserts were pretty wet, but she wasn't and neither were her clothes. :)

I SHOULD be getting my ApronStrings fleece pockets today. I can't wait!

Eileen, please post a review of your ApronStrings fleece pocket when you get it. I was planning to order one today :).
