I want to place an order but I'm not sure which size to get. Their maxi is said to be 11 1/2 inches long which is the same as my Happy Heiny overnight pads, and their mini is 9 inches long which is the same length as the HH regular pads. I found the HH regular pads length to be perfect for the majority of my AF (absorbancy wise) and found them very comfortable. The HH overnight ones are definately more noticeable with the extra length, which is fine for my heavy day and at night, but I wouldn't want all my regular absorbancy pads to be that long. But I'm afraid if I get the DG minis they won't be absorbant enough. I guess I just equate "mini" with "panty liner" which wouldn't be absorbant enough. So does anyone use the DG mini pads for the majority of their AF, or is only used at the end like a panty liner for a very light flow?

I also use the HH regular pads, and I've got 2 DG mini pads on the way. They've been shipped already, so hopefully they'll be here before AF is over. If they get here in time to try them out, I'll post a comparison. I did get the ones with hemp soakers, and I believe it's 2 layers of hemp compared to the 3 in the HH. So, theoretically, it should work for me most of the time because the HH are usually more than adequate in the absorbancy department.

It's a tough question, because it is a matter of personal preference ... and it's a preference that is so very personal, you know?

I have mini, maxi and ultra DGD pads. DGD pads are my favorite pads of all in my stash. I use the ultras for overnight and the maxis for heavy flow days. I like the minis, but I don't know that I'd be willing to try them on a heavy day.

I also have the 9in HH pads. I have used the HH pads on heavy days because they were all that I had, but I usually wouldn't use them on my heavy day any more than I would the DGD mini pad. But, it may just be a matter of personal preference.

The DGD mini pads are definitely more substantial than a panty liner type pad. I wear the mini when I know that AF is due to arrive soon and I don't trust a panty liner. I also use the minis on medium or light days at the end of my period.

If you email Tara at DaisyGirl Designs, she might be able to make minis for you with extra layers if you really prefer that length for your whole period. She altered the design of the mini and the maxi when I asked her. If you want, she might even work with you if you wanted a custom pad length.

I hope this makes sense -- DD is running around in circles around me so I can't concentrate on what I'm writing now.

Hope this helps,
Karen

Well, I just decided to go ahead and order 2 maxi and 2 mini pads, with 2 being fleece topped and 2 with velour (she just added this option today). According to the HH website, their pads are made of 2 layers of hemp fleece, which is the same as the mini all-hemp DG pad, so I think it will work out just fine.

I wanted to post an update, since I got my DGD mini pads a few days ago. They didn't arrive in time for me to use this month, but these are my initial observations after just looking at the pads. Although the DGD minis are the same length as the reg. HH, I would not replace my HH with the minis. Because of the contour, there is not as much "functional area" on the pad, and I can tell just by looking it won't work alone on my heavy days like the HH will. But, I bought them as a comfortable "back-up" to wear during the day when wearing my Diva Cup or to use alone on the really light days at the end of my cycle. I'll still use my HH for night-time. So, for me, the DGD minis are perfect. HTH!
