Does dylon run in the wash? I have some preemie prefolds that I'd like to dye any solid color to mark them as inserts only (to help DH out), but I know nothing about dyeing clothes. Is dylon cheap and colorfast?

Your covers looks great!

I bought mine at Jo-ann's for 1.99 each color. It says on the package its for natural fibers (cotton silk etc) Its really easy to use and so far I havent had any problems with washing. (it will look really dark to beging with but with the first washing and drying it does lighten up) you hand dye them in warm salty water and then after soaking rinse in cold water (the directions on the pack are really easy to read)

But what I did was after I rinsed them out as well as my hands could stand (brrr cold water) I ran them in the washer under a cold rinse then washed them on hot. I then hung them to dry as it says to dry away from heat. When they were dry I then washed them again on hot and dryed them on hot in the dryer. (they are diapers afterall) I just washed my first colored prefold (hot pink) with the rest of my diapers and tossed in one of those Shout Color catcher thingys and it was barely pink, the next wash I didnt even bother...no bleeding or running and its still just as bright as when I did it. One thing to remember is that you have to agitate it well for the first 15 minutes and then agitate every so often within the hour or more that you soak it, otherwise it turns out kinda uneven. The color will also be a lot lighter when you started so dont be afraid if it looks really dark when its soaking as the water color is not the true color. Good luck....its a lot of fun and the colors are sooo pretty!

Oh...I added a picture so you can see the colors. If you notice on the red one its kinda marbely looking, thats because I did not agitate it like your supposed to and just let it soak, live and learn. Oh, and most of the colors were only half strength dye and as you can see even half strength the colors are pretty.

I love the colors! I think I am going to have to go buy some dye this weekend. I am going to JoAnn anyway for serger thread, I think it is this weekend that the thread is all supposed to be 50% off. This is when I stock up on Maxi-Lock at below coop pricing! So now I will have to buy dye also! I will have some fun colored fitteds! Thanks
