Sorry to pop up only when I have a problem... trying to finish a dissertation right now, and I seem to have the energy (or time killing desire) to lurk but not join in the fun! Anyway, I'm hoping for some advice on wool covers. DS has hellish diaper rash, I think from tons o poop during a recent illness. I'm getting worried about how unbreathable our covers are (mostly litewraps). I'm thinking wool covers might at least make ME feel better about letting his poor little butt breathe. I use CPF's from a diaper service, so my options are limited, I know. Any suggestions for wool covers (or soakers even? really lost here...) that work well with CPF's? Thanks!

All of my wool soakers currently work well for PFs. The most inexpensive of them came from Tinker6729 on ebay. Here's one of her soakers:

You could see if she has any other soakers or you could contact her and see if she has any available that are not currently listed.

There are also some wool wraps that lots of people seem to like. If you look at a recent thread about Favorite Fitteds/AIOS/Cover/Pockets/Wool, etc., you'll see some good recs for wool covers.

As for the rash, when Kaya had the same problem from all the poop, lots of bare butt time or coverless time really helped. I just put a prefold on her, snappi'd it and let her crawl around with no cover. Or if I had time to monitor her, I'd let her crawl around the bathroom (tile floors) with no diaper and clean up any "accidents". Also, soaking her in warm baking soda baths seemed to really help. If his rash is from a recent stomach illness, you may also want to consider to probiotics or lots of yogurt to help stave off the yeasties. At night, she was either in a fleece pocket or a fitted with no cover but a fleece nightie or fleece sleep sack. When she was going to be in a diaper for a long time, like at night, I'd slather her bum with a mixture of aquaphor, triplepaste and a little mylanta thrown in to help with the inflammation. I also added fleece liners to all my diapers to try keeping her bum as dry as possible.

I switched over to wool covers when Kaya was 4 months, exactly because of rash problems. It seemed like the major rash problems cleared up overnight! Yes, she still gets rashes now, but before I banned PUL, it seemed like she was rashy 24/7.

Anyway, good luck and pop up with question any time! Good luck with your dissertation, too!
