Hey all you "been-there-done-that" mamas, I'm looking for some ideas on swim diapers. I live near the (very short) coast of NH & plan to spend lots of time at the beach. I hadn't thought of diapers much until someone (Liza?) posted about swim diapers a bit ago. What should I look for in them? I see that i-play has nylon lined, & terry lined... Is that all my DD would wear -- nothing inside, or do I have to put a disp. inside & then the swim dipe? I've never seen one of these so not sure what they do!

Thanks for the help!

I've got a Bumpy swim diaper that I really like. It is all he wears - nothing under and nothing over, since it is so cute.

You can't use a regular disposible diaper because it'll absorb the water and be huge! Swim diapers basically catch the poop, not the pee.

I haven't seen iPlay ones, although I keep looking at Target.

I've used both the Iplay and Bumpy ones and I think I like the Bumpy ones better, although the Iplay ones are pretty good. Kaya just had chunkier thighs at the time and the iplay ones left red marks. Kaya does wear just the diaper and nothing else, although if it's particularly sunny or I'm at the beach, I might also put a t-shirt on her. Here are a couple pics of our latest trip. She's wearing a large Bumpy, which is a tad large on her, but I didn't want to go too small:

A little baggy, but it doesn't gap at the legs, so it'll contain poop:

Can't see the diaper, but she was clearly having fun :):

This is sort of on-topic, right? :D Thanks for indulging me!

since finn was about 7 months he's been taking swim lessons and our school requires the I Play brand. We really like them. And, fwiw, we've never had a poopy to worry either (knock on wood!).

You can use a MOE Trickle Free Trainer as a swim dipe. It's terry lined.

Thanks everyone!

Eileen -- SO CUTE! I have to know what the floating contraption does... is the top just to keep the wee one in the shade?

I think I'll try the Bumpy -- does anyone have a favorite place to buy them (aka CHEAPEST?)?

I can't wait to bring my cute little girl to the beach! :-)

I got mine at Lil Bunz. She has a 5% off sale now SPRING. She has free shipping, too. Also, she's very helpful for sizing and such.

The floating contraption is actually in two parts--there's the part that keeps her floating, and then the sunshade. I got it at Target a while back (last summer) and never got to use it until now. She really loves it!

I second Kris' suggestion of Lilbunz. That's where I got mine. I wasn't sure about sizing and she even offered to send me 2 sizes and then I could send the other one back!

ETA: You're going to LOVE the beach with your little girl. :)
