CalicoBaby fitted and Fleece Cover - review and pics

So, I got a fitted and fleece cover from The Calico Baby (http://www.thecalicobaby.com).
I got the medium since it said 15-30lbs. First of all, i hate when no thigh and waist measurements are specified.. i know i should have asked but just went ahead and got the Medium anyways.. well, wouldn't you know it, we have very little growing room in either the fitted or the fleece cover.
The fitted is made very well.. it is not as trim as say a Bijou, but it is not as bulky as a MEOS either.. i am wondering whether to keep it or SWAP it and get a larger size.

The fleece cover I got was a Medium.. pictured here over the fitted dipe.. again, not much growing room.. grr. As you can see, even over a Calico medium, you can see some fitted coming out. It is a well made cover though.. it just has one set of snaps.. no thigh and waist so you can't get a super custom fit though. I am wondering whether to return or SWAP it.

Phooey, no pictures! But I agree with you about waist and thigh measurements. I ordered a medium way back when, but I haven't heard from her in terms of my questions, so I don't know if she's started.

I've just e-mailed her with Kaya's measurements and hope to hear back from her.

ETA: Of course, with the raves these things get over at MDC, maybe you should have someone post it on the TP for you!

ETA: Oh, she's so cute. The diaper looks great on her, even if it's going to be too small. I love her bending over picture. :) By the way, how can I get my DD to have beautiful hair like her?

I bought the same Butterscotch cover from her, same size, for the same reason. The rise and bum coverage leave much to be desired, but I'd love it if it were larger. It works well with a trifolded prefold, though. Nice sewing and fabric, she needs to post rise and waist measurements on her site!

First of all the model is an angel she had such beautiful hair! Ok with that said... I have 2 of the calico covers. I am really new to CD so I am still getting used to the fit of things. DS has on a large in the picture I havent had any leaking problems. Should the come up higher? Where do you measure the rise? He has on a prefold under the calico cover. He is about 28lbs and 34 in tall and (as grandma says) solid. Thanks

OH no!! I have two fitteds on the way and I think I ordered mediums too. If that is what they look like on Leela I don't think there is any way they will fit Noah. I'm going to email her and see if she started on my order yet.

Yeah.. i am not so sure it will fit Noah, though his thighs are skinnier than Leela's (12inches) and his waist is smaller too i think (18inches). Ask her for the rise on the Large just to be sure.

I saw your other pics and they looked fine. As long as it covers the dipe, you're good. The covers need more room in them for fitted diapers, which are bulkier, sometimes. And, you have a large, so its bigger.

I emailed her worried too--here's the response with measurements:

If it helps any my chunky son -about 28lbs still fits fine in a medium although the rise is getting a bit short. With the covers he still has one snap setting left for adjustment and with the dipes he's on the last snaps (for side snaps) but has been there for 6 months and is getting slimmer.
Here are the measurements for mediums. I measure with the diaper relaxed on the smallest setting and then again on the largest setting with the elastic stretched.
Mediums:
rise 15-17"
waist 12.5-21.5"
leg 8-15"
Larges:
rise 17.25-19"
waist 15.25-22.5"
leg 10.5-16"

I don't know Anna.. thighs 12 inches, waist 18inches and rise about 16.5-17 (depending on over prefold or not). But there is very little growing room there, especially the thighs.. i have just washed both cover and fitted today, let me see after washing if anything changes. If not, off to TP it goes.

I got almost exactly the same response when I sent her an e-mail, but I also got a picture of her 28 lb son with the fitted on him and it looks okay on him.

But I think these are the measurements of the fitted and not the cover?

Anyway, she also said that if for some reason it didn't fit right, we could exchange for a different size. So that's an out if it's too small, IMO.

Nathan has the large covers they fit well over prefolds. I cant post for some reason if anyone wants a pic of him in them email me and I will send it to you. PS I washed them today and they wash well.

She sent me a pic of her son too. The diaper fit him well but it was on the last snaps. I would prefer to buy a diaper that will last longer. She had already cut my mediums but she said she can post them in the instock store if I decide to get larges. She's going to put them aside for a few days until I decide. IMHO she is really great CS. She has answered all of my obsessive emails promptly.
