View Full Version : Jo-Ann's Microfleece

I bought some microfleece from Jo-Ann's to line diapers, but I'm not sure I bought the right kind. It didn't seem to work as a stay-dry liner when I tried it in a diaper. I just tested it with water and it beads! Even after several seconds the water doesn't pass through the fleece (no wonder that diaper leaked!).

I just tried scrubbing a piece of it with Dawn to see if I can get it to stop repelling.

Has anyone else had the same experience? Is the dish-detergent scrub just a normal step you need to take to prepare microfleece? Did I buy the wrong kind of fleece (it said it was "microfleece," not anti-pill or alpine)?

If I can't get it to stop repelling water, any ideas for an easy sewing project with a yard of soft, pretty bright blue microfleece?

Thanks,
Karen

I use the microfleece from JoAnn with out problems. Try it again, but this time take a finger and press it on the microfleece where the water is standing and see if the water passes through faster then.

EDIT: Ok just took one of my liners and tried it again to be sure, the water does seem to pool at first but if I start a spot with my finger tip then if flows through quickly and performs its stay dry function.

Does that make any sense at all?

(BTW it actually keeps DD dry when I use it)

Yes, all of my microfleece tends to pool, but if the wetness goes against something that is pressed against it, it'll go through and keep it feeling dry. Try the same thing with your FB or SEZ and if you trickle the water on the inner layer, it'll bead, but if you push your finger right where the water is, it'll go through.
