I'm sure all of you are sick of hearing about my laundry situation: a coin-op machine, and since I'm not about to feed it $3.00 for every load of diapers, I just do one hot wash for $1.00. I have not yet bought a mini-shower- I am undecided. If I get the potty pail, then I don't need a mini-shower. My guess is that the potty pail would be helpful for someone like me, who can't do a cold rinse first.
So I wanted to know if any of you have/had any of these contraption, designed to make laundry life a little easier.

The potty pail is pretty much a mini-shower plus the bucket. I think it might be nice to soak, but you'd have a bucket of poopy water on top of your toilet all the time, if you used it like a wet pail. An easier option might be a mini-shower, and a 5gal bucket like that one, but no fancy add-ons. You could mini-shower dipes, to get off almost all the poo, then dump in the pail with some cold water to soak. So, basically, a wet pail. The 5 gal buckets come with tight lids, so I think it would be safe. You'd need to dump out the majority of the soak water into the toilet before washing, of course. My sister used the diaper duck with her kids, and liked it. The idea of dipes soaking in the potty icks me out for some reason, though, so I wring out with rubber gloves after mini-showering, if needed. Just rambling on here, so I'll stop.

Actually, I do have a minishower, but I don't usually do a cold rinse first. The minishower actually sprays off most of the poop and then keeps them cold and wet until I do laundry. I would think that a poopy wet pail would be much more of a pain, more gross, and somewhat of a danger to toddlers.

Honestly, I just spray off my diapers, squeeze them out with my bare hands, toss them in my "dry" pail and then wash my hands afterwards. Then I take my homemade antiseptic spray (water, Dr. Bronner's, TTO) and spray off any surfaces that might have gotten a little splattered, including the sprayer and wipe with an extra cloth wipe that I also toss in the pail. It's pretty easy and not that gross and I don't have to do a cold rinse when I do the wash.

ETA: And I wouldn't want to do this on a regular basis, but when I went on vacation and didn't have the minishower with me, I just dumped out as much of the poop into the toilet and flushed with the diaper hanging in and then rinsed it in the toilet for a little bit to get most of it off and then finished rinsing off the poop in the sink. Like I said, not ideal, but it did work in a pinch and I didn't need to do a cold soak or rinse first.
