I am not sure if this should be in the bitching post or here. Ok...We have been CDing for several weeks. Today Nathan spent from 8 til 3 with G'ma. I asked her ( my mom) if she wanted his cloth diapers she said no they would be to much hassle. OK..Shes busy and doing me a favor. I pick up Nathan and bring him home I go to change his diaper and what did I find... the disposable PINNED ON. She ripped the tabs off and re attached the diaper with old fashioned diaper pins ( The were probably my brothers who is 27--she saves everything) Tell me if you go to all the trouble of pinning a disposable why would it have been so hard to SNAP on a nice loveybum fitted diaper ( which I was going to send)? I am probably just having a hormonal moment but she PINNED the dispoable!!

That is interesting! Did you call her to ask about it? If she's like my mil, she has no idea about modern cloth. In fact, she refuses to change ds into cloth and quickly changes him into a sposie sometimes even when he's dry.
Odd. :)

LOL, that's a new one! Now when someone says, "Snappi's" or "Pins", there's a whole new set of choices!

In my Mom's babysitting years, the diaper tapes were still sticky and you couldn't take a peek in and re-tape them, so she'd peek and pin. Maybe that's what got in your Gm's head?

MIL and DH both refused to put CDs on DS until they had no choice (no sposies in the house, or maybe I hid the ones that were left ;)), and all of a sudden were converted...maybe pull a fast one on G-ma?

That's definitely bizarre. Maybe she accidentally ripped the tabs pulling too hard, but didn't want to throw away the diaper? My DH has done that before. However, it seems to me if she's going to do that then putting on a nice fitted shouldn't be a hassle :)

Just wanted to add that I shared this story with DH and he said (paraphrasing a bit), "Well, in those days, cloth diapers were these big pieces of cloth that had to be folded in funny ways and then pinned. So in her mind, using a disposable with pins IS much easier. She obviously doesn't know about all these nice fitted diapers and pockets that are soft and easy to put on."

Ok called my mom to ask her what was up with the pinned huggies. She ripped off the tab and didnt want to "waste" a good diaper so she hunted for a diaper pin ( I was right it was 27yrs old) I told next time she was getting the nice snap on diapers. She did know about the "new" improved fitteds I have been bragging on them for the past few weeks. I remember her letting me diaper my sister when I was 7! But thats my mother...
