View Full Version : Love my pickle pants!

I just got my pickle pants in the mail, and I really like it! I used it this afternoon and it worked pretty well, so I'm testing it tonight and hoping all will go well. Kaya wanted to play with the tie at the waist, but I think she's okay, even though it feels somewhat rougher than the rest of my wool soakers. However, it feels really thick and hardy, like it'll last a toddler running all over the place, even outside! So I'm really pleased about that. I did get some Doodle Bottoms wool wash, which should soften it up a little bit, plus, I assume with use, it'll eventually soften up a little more. Still, as I said, Kaya didn't seem to mind the somewhat rough texture, so I'm not going to worry about it. Oh, and thanks to Karen (stillplayswithbarbies), I decided to get ruffles on them, and I think I like the effect. :)

Here's a couple of pics (I didn't get quite enough pics to get the "perfect shot", but at least you can see the soakers fairly clearly.

Oh, and she was being silly today, putting all sorts of things on her head. Since this is diaper related, I thought I'd include it here:

I seem to be on a roll, so if you'll humor me, I just wanted to include a shot of her in her new dress--a little big, but she was waving it around wanting to put it on, so I did. I promise you she has a CD under there. :)

Thanks for looking!

Cute! I'm glad you like them. I'm still waiting on mine (as are two-three other people)... Anyway, you can also use some hair conditioner to soften up the wool. Let us know how they work.

Anna, should I use the hair conditioner before or after lanolizing, or would it make a difference?

Thanks! I hope you and the rest of the people get theirs soon!

Those look great on her! A cutie, as always! I love how she lifts her knees up high when walking.

I would do it before. I'd think the conditioner would lessen the lanolin? But I haven't tried it. Just instinct--lanolin always LAST.

Kaya looks adorable in those ruffles. Since our email conversations I'm seriously considering trying wool covers. I've been surfing AngelDry covers like you suggested, pickle pants and I just saw the cutest BJ Marketplace soaker with fish - Barrett's room is underwater theme as both DH and I are keen scuba divers. mmmmm DH may regret going away to a Bachelor Party Weekend as I'm sitting in front of the computer with my credit card!

Sooo cute! (The pickle pants too). We really like our pickle pants as well, James has worn them outside and they seem indestructible (unlike some of our other wool shorts which I worry about snagging).

I love the ruffles too.

Okay, Kaya is going to wear her pickle pants to the picnic this afternoon, but then I'm going to try the conditioning and then the lanolizing. Hmm...should I try the new doodle wash with conditioner in it and then lanolize afterwards? Or just skip the doodle wash, soak with a little conditioner and then lanolize afterwards? I actually have spray lanolin right now because I'm super lazy. :D

Thanks everyone! The more I look at it the more I'm glad I went with the ruffles. Nicci, you won't regret trying the Angeldry cover--it's such an excellent cover and fits so well over both bulky diapers and trim diapers. The pickle pants seem so indestructible and I love how they work at night (yup, it worked perfectly last night--and Tarah, I used them right out of the package :P) and then during the day, Kaya can wear them as shorts. For the BJ Marketplace--I LOVE their designs, but keep in mind that I often got wicking with Kaya because she's such a soaker. Barrett's quite a soaker, isn't he? So JMO, but I would probably stay away from the BJM soakers. It's possible you could find someone to embroidery fish on one of your other covers. I've never done it, but LOTS of ladies here could help you with that. :)

Eileen,
I did a search for BJ Marketplace and read about wicking, so I didn't order any. Good idea about embroidery. That way I get the cover I want with custom embroidery. Let us know how the pickle pants work. If they don't wick for you, then they'll work for Barrett. He and Kaya are both chunky-thighed super soakers.

Well, taken out of the package, without additional washing or lanolizing, it worked great last night, worked great this afternoon (2 20 minute car trips, stroller ride, very wet diaper, no wicking) and will probably work great tonight (yes, DH put it back on her). I'm LOVING these pickle pants. Makes me almost wish I got a second one in pink or red just to coordinate with other outfits (anyone want to do a second COOP, LOL--all we need are 5 pairs)! I'm putting off the conditioning and lanolizing because I'm enjoying putting it on Kaya. :) But I think I'll do it after church tomorrow while she's napping. I'll use a regular 'crat for the night and they'll be ready to go the next morning. :P

Too cute. I love the ruffles on them.

It's harder getting photos once they're walking, isn't it?

Eileen — I suspect I'll be up for another coop once my Pickle Pants arrive and I get to try them out. ;) Kaya looks positively adorable in those ruffles — not that she wouldn't in anything!

Oooh!!! If you learn how to make ruffles, you could possibly add ruffles to the bum area as well. I've almost been tempted to e-mail the woman at Pickle Pants to ask if she could do something like that. :P
