Ok we didn't leak as much over night with the mother-ease and an additional liner but they tend to rid low in front on him. Anybody have experience with the Very Baby, Bumkins or California babe stuff deluxe all in one diapers? Are they as bulky as the mother-ease all in one's? Is the bulkiness normal for all cloth diapers? I have a soaker 18 month old. Thank you

I have a very baby fitted for my 18mo old he is 28 1/2lbs and 35 inches tall. The large fits him well. I would definatly buy more when I need them. Maybe some of the other ladies can fill you in on the others. I have 3 swaddlebees coming ( SOMETIME soon I hope) they are supposed to be very trim. I also like the fit of his Sunflower derrierer dipe. Its really trim.

I don't have any experience with the diapers you asked about, so I can't help there, but I do know that not all cloth diapers are exceptionally bulky. During the daytime, we use FuzziBunz and an occasional Daisy Doodles, which are very trim. Now granted, they can get bulkier the more you stuff them, but the most I've ever needed to stuff a FuzziBunz with was two Joey Bunz Hemparoos, and that still wasn't all that bulky in my opinion. In general, I can get away with just one for daytime. :) (Rashmi is consistantly amazed that Taran wears cloth diapers because she says it doesn't look like he does - it really doesn't!)

Now, for nighttime, ours are a bit bulkier because that's when we use fitteds and a wool cover. My fitteds for Taran are either Righteous Baby or Full Moon Baby Gear, and I just add a doubler to them, then the wool cover over the diaper. It certainly isn't very trim looking, but since he's asleep I figure it doesn't matter either. ;) It holds us until he wakes up in the morning and I haven't had a leak with this yet. (He will wake up with his PJs wet, if not soaked, if my husband gets forgetful and puts a disposable on him for the night though.)

I could probably use a FuzziBunz at night if I were to stuff it more, I just haven't needed to because I've basically just just enough fitteds for night for him and since I know they work, I just stick with them. :)

Every baby is different though, and you may have to try a few things to see what works best for you. :)

I've tried Very Baby, Bumkins and the California Babe Stuff deluxe (aka, ATD Aio). The ATD is excellent. Very sturdy diaper - no frills but a great price for a workhorse of a diaper. The snap tape may drive people buggy (I wasn't particularly fond of it but they worked so well I overlooked it). Is it Trim? Kind of - definitely not huge and bulky but not as trim as a Bumkin or Very Baby. And yes the ATD is trimmer than the ME aio (have some of those too!)
The Bumkin is a great diaper too -but they won't last you as long as a VB or ATD. And you kind of have to baby them in the washing dept.
The VB are great. Trim and absorbant.
For over night with any of these I'd add a doubler or booster of some sort.

HTH!

::grin:: Come see him in his crib after he goes to bed! (Or while we're getting him ready, or when he gets up in the morning...) He gets a puffy fluffy butt then. ;)

Hmm...my reply on the ATD diaper seems to have disappeared--or I'm just confused. I used the ATD diaper as a newborn and I agree with Maria about all of the points. However, I used it as a newborn and they did NOT contain BF poop well. It kept driving me buggy, so I finally gave up on them. They're also pretty stiff diapers and take a long time to dry. One positive thing is that when I got stains on them, and none of the usual things took the stains out (sunning them, soak on cold, wash on hot, etc.), I could soak them in a bleach solution and these diapers could handle it! Anyway, I tried selling them off several times (no takers), but finally just donated them to an orphanage.
