Here is a photo of Maggie in her first knitted wool shorts. They need the drawstring, can you tell?

Wow, Meg! I assume you did that? That's incredible! I love all the bright colors! And she seems quite happy in those shorts. She is absolutely adorable! (I'm glad Kaya's not the only one with long, thin hair.)

Yes I did do it, it was my first knitting project ever! I should have started with something easier, but I was determined to do it. My MIL was tech support as well as teacher, she is going to crochet the drawstring because I don't have any crochet hooks.

As far as the hair, it is always a mess unless I put tons of hairspray on it, but I don't really want to cut it, because I would like it to grow out into all one length, we might shape it up a little after her birthday, if my mom will let me, she is a hairdresser and just keeps telling me that WE are not cutting it!

That is an amazing first project! I'm thinking of figuring out my sewing machine and then the woman who's going to help me figure it out said she can help me either learn to crochet or knit (I haven't quite decided which one yet--sewing is first).

I've never bothered with hair products for Kaya, but it does tend to fly all over the place. But it pretty much looks like Maggie's. I haven't cut it yet (other than a cutting of her hair when it was still newborn hair) and am not sure when I'll do it.

Oh, such a sweetie, and such beautiful bright shorts! Those are very impressive for a first project. That's the wooly wonder pattern, isn't it? For a drawstring, you can also make i-cord. You need a double pointed needle for this, any size, I use 4, I think. Cast on three or four stitches, knit them. Slide them to the other end of the needle and knit again, without turning the work. It makes a really nice drawstring, and is the ultimate knitting while reading the boards or watching TV project.

Yes Tarah it is the Wooly Wonder Pattern, after I saw yours a few weeks ago I decided to buy the pattern and try it. This was the Wondershorts since they are supposed to be a little easier than the Perfection Pants pattern, but I also have that one to try also.

It is all your fault that I am addicted! LOL

Thank you everyone for the wonderful compliments! I am getting ready to start my next one and I dyed the yarn myself with kool aid. I am not 100% happy with how the colors came out, but I am going to knit it up anyway.

I bet that will knit up very pretty. The grape kool-aid is tricky, I often get that lavendar/grey too, but its pretty nice in the knitted fabric.
