Can you tell me about fleece pockets? I'm making a whole mess o' diapers these days, both pockets and quick-dry AIOs, and they're one area I'm totally clueless...

Thanks!

Hmm...well not sure that I'll be that helpful, but I'll give it a try.
One thing that is important is that fleece tends to be stretchier than PUL, so you want to make them slightly smaller than the PUL ones, or they'll tend to be too big. Like the regular pockets, I've always found 2 rows of snaps to be much more adjustable than 1, because of the stretchiness and because DD's waist has always been small compared to her thighs.

There are different types of fleece that can be used on the outside. Windbloc, Windpro, 200wt and 300wt Polar fleece. Microfleece is usually used in the inside, but I'm sure you can use suedecloth.

Windbloc is the least breathable, but also the most water proof of all of them. I have a snapping turtles pocket that is made out of it and I have used it at night successfully, even if I didn't quite use enough stuffing. I've never had wicking with that one! However, it does feel like the inside is coated, so I don't find it to be as cuddly as my other pockets, if that makes any sense. Still, it will work.

Windpro is the next in terms of breathability and waterproofness. I think there are different types of weight as well with windpro (light, medium, and heavy). Obviously, the heavier the weight, the thicker it will be and the less breathable it will be. But of course, it will also be more waterproof. I have two lightweight windpro pockets from snap-ez and I LOVE them for naps. Yesterday, I stuffed it (a medium) with 2 LJ days plus a MF towel (I can also do one night LJ with a MF towel) and it went for her 2.5 hour nap plus an hour afterwards and half an hour before hand. So she went for 4 hours and there was no wicking and she felt dry. My guess is that Windpro would make a great night time pocket, but I would go with a midweight at least for night time. I LOVE how soft these pockets are.

Polar fleece is the same type of fleece (so I'm told) that stacinators are made from. I believe the stacinator is made of the 200wt fleece. The polar fleece is the most breathable (I believe) of all but that will depend on the weight. I have Apronstrings pockets made of both 200 and 300 wt fleece. I do sometimes get compression wicking with the 200wt, but I don't know about the 300wt because I have only used those for night time (and have never had wicking problems with them).

Does this help a little? I'll try to answer any other questions you have.
