So I finally (after 2 years!) worked up the nerve to try cloth last night. DS is a very heavy wetter so I'd just never done it. I put him in a Very Baby Simply Nights (thanks Jen) and a Loveybums fleece cover. The waistband of his pjs was wet this morning - I guess from wicking, but the sheets didn't seem wet. I'm not sure about the rise of the Simply Nights; I think they might be too short. But I'm psyched that they worked for the most part. I'm on to try new combos of things.

Those using pockets at night - how thick do you stuff them for a heavy wetter?

And on a totally separate issue, here are some recent pics of DS in his Swaddlebe pocket. I love how trim this diaper is; it fits DS really, really well. I think I'm going to order a few more.

He really needs a haircut!

First off, I LOVE his curls! Okay, so maybe a little trim, but don't chop off all the curls! :)

Second, isn't Jen wonderful? She's the one who got me onto the VB SN and I love them for night time. Okay, so for the pockets, with the Apronstrings 300wt pocket, I will stuff with one Zannadu Giant MF towel + 1 LJ nights and it usually works quite well. One LJ nights with a normal MF towel or even two normal MF towels will NOT make it through the night for Kaya.

Eileen, I actually have two Apronstrings pockets although I'm not sure of the weight on them. One of them is PUL lined, so I may try that. And I do have a huge MF towel from Zannadu. I love that thing! I'm guessing it's the same one you're talking about. I will try that with a LJ nights.

A LJ nights with a Baby Blanket pocket is actually my favorite combo for days right now - no leaks ever. :)

Alex is so cute, I love the photos!!

The waist of his jammies may sort of slide into the diaper or cover, I know that happens with Jonah sometimes. I love one piece jammies for that reason. But I am glad that the dipe worked for the most part.

As for pockets, I can use a snap-EZ dipe, stuffed with two ellas inserts (all hemp inserts, I like them because they are shaped like the dipe. Another fave is a wonder-fulls. Can get both of these at Zannadu). I also put a wool doubler in, behind all of the inserts. This helps a lot for us, makes the inserts absorb to their capacity, and then the wool can absorb if necessary. We always use a wool doubler at night, no matter what dipe we use!

Congrats for trying nighttime! You can do it!

What are the colors/prints of the two Apronstrings? The only thing I would caution you about using the PUL one is that it may not be breathable enough. But then again, if you've been using sposies at night with no problem, then the PUL should should be fine. If the Blue-striped pocket is not PUL lined, then it's a 200wt, but it's somewhat denser (according to Becca) than the other 200wt ones. If it's front-snapping, you should have no problem stuffing it with the Zannadu towel and an LJ night.

Oh boy - is that cute!!

Okay, Neel had become close to a super soaker at night. :( I've had the best luck with a combo of hemp and MF. I use a LJ night plus a hemp doubler from Shandelle plus a MOE insert. Alternatively, the LJ night and either 2 MOE inserts or a MOE insert and a MF towel trifolded. And that usually does the trick.
