Ok we have been cloth diapering for close to 7 months now buy still use disposable wipes. My question is do you have different wipes for cleaning up your DC's face/hands than those you use on there bottom. I am thinking about switching to cloth wipes but would like to just have a bunch of one kind, so will people think I am crazy for using the same wipes on DD's bottom and then next time on her face (obviously having been laundered in between uses). I see no problem with it since they should come out clean from the laundry, right? Am I missing something here?

Also what materials are recommeded to use to make wipes that I could just buy at JoAnn's? Thanks

Well, I started with Kissaluvs wipes and really didn't like them. I switched to Lucy's Hope Chest sherpa/velour wipes and love them. So, we use the Kissaluvs in the kitchen for hands and face at mealtime. But, when I'm out, I carry wet LHC wipes and use them for either face or butt. I have no problem using them on his face (clean, of course).

Not sure what JoAnn's carries. I really like the sherpa/velour. I've had them about a year and they are still really nice and soft. No stains, either.

I just use the same ones for baby bath washcloths, kitchen after-meal baby cleanup, and for wiping his bum and his nose. Pretty all-purpose. My DH likes one side to be flannel, so we have mostly flannel and velour combo wipes. You should be able to get both of those at JoAnn's. The velour needs to be all cotton, of course. You could also get some cotton terrycloth, the small-looped baby stuff. That would work well, I think.

My favorites are also sherpa/velour, mostly from LHC, but also 1.5 dozen from Snap-EZ. I also have a bunch from Darling Diapers, and some random ones from all over. I now have a ton of sherpa/velour, so I'm thinking of setting aside the sherpa/velour for diapers and the rest for eating time, but I haven't really decided--it may be too much work, LOL. Currently, I just use the wipes for everything and don't bother separating them out. And no one's ever asked if I use the same wipes for everything. :)

Ok I checked out JoAnn's today and they have the 100% cotton velour, but I couldn't find sherpa. Anyone know if you can find that locally usually or should I just do flannel/velour or fleece/velour or flannel/fleece?

Also anyone know what I should use to make some mama cloth for myself out of. I have PUL and microfleece on hand if that matters

This coop gets good reviews on MDC (there is a diaper making forum):

For mama cloth, I would use hemp for absorbency topped with velour or microfleece and backed with wool or windpro. Double felt the wool and it should be washable/dryable. Or that's my understanding. Microfleece wouldn't be a good backing.
