can you believe it? lizajane of prefolds and prorap fame bought a wool cover. BUT it was at a consignment sale and it was outrageously cheap. (not telling how much because if i can't make it work i will sell it on swap!) it is felted wool, two layers- said it was a nighttime cover. it smells kinda like wool that has been in a closet, so i need to wash it. how do you wash felted wool? and i can boil some lanolin and then dunk it, yes?

not sure it will work for us because the rise is kinda low. dylan's waist has gotten very skinny recently and his rise has gotten very long at the same time. even a MEOS fits a little funny under it. i may have to custom make some hemp dipes to go under it. and it is way bulky... but still. the workmanship looks good and the elastic is stretchy and it is a gorgeous lavender (yes i have a boy, but who cares!)

Is it a felted wool wrap like a Bumpy or Biobottoms? If so those can go in the wash I believe.

i am guessing that it is like a bumpy or biobottoms because that is what the kid i babysat used ages ago and this is what i remember his covers being like... but i can't be sure since i don't have either myself. (and the kid i CD'd in college is now TEN!)

Can you show us a picture of it? As for lanolizing wool, you put a little lanolin in hot water, pour it in a bucket/sink of warm water, swirl and add the cover. Swirl it around a few times, let it sit for...an hour? I don't remember if it's 15 minutes or what because I haven't lanolized that way in a while (too lazy, so I use the spray-on stuff), and I also tended to leave them in to soak forever because I'd forget about it. Anyway, take it out, squeeze out most of the water, roll in a towel and then hang to dry. You can blow a fan on it to speed up the drying. Alternatively, you can spin it in the washer. Oh, and if I recall correctly, you don't have to lanolize it each time If you put it in the washer, use wool wash that contains lanolin, and stop the cycle before the rinse. That will prevent the lanolin from being rinsed out.

Wash it in the sink with leukwarm water with baby shampoo or baby bath, then take the cover out of the sink, add some melted lansinoh (1/4in) and put it back in to soak for a few minutes. Don't rinse, just squeeze out the excess water in a towel, and air dry. I love lavender and purple on Forrest! I bet Dylan will look fabulous in lavendar with his dark hair.
