They mostly get good review on DiaperPin, but I wondered if anyone on here had any experience with Crickett's Hemp Diapers? I have a heavy wetter boy, and these *sound* like they might work for him.

While I was doing a search for old threads to delete pictures, I came across a few very old threads discussing them:

There are a ton more that talk about Crickett's and like all diapers, it works very well for some and not for others. As you said, the reviews on DiaperPin are mostly positive, so it may be worth trying. I'd order one and see how well it works for your boy and if it works well, then order more of them. :)

My DD is a heavy wetter, so if you want more ideas of what works for a heavy wetter, let me know.

Eileen,

I swear I did a search, but I didn't come up with all of those. :) I think I may have some deficiencies using search engines!! ha ha Anyway, I'm kind of learning about heavy wetters and CD by trial and error, so I'd LOVE some direction and some suggestions! I don't want to do pockets, but am open to other suggestions. For naps, we usually tri-fold premium IPFs (or the one hemp PF I have) and that works, but I'd love some other ideas. :)

I actually used PF almost exclusively until Kaya started solids. But I definitely had to add doublers as she got older. Right now, my entire stash is hemp, because hemp is so much more absorbent than the rest. I still use prefolds, but not for naps any more. Still, it looks like you can use it for now. But for the future (;)), you could try the Crickett Diaper. Here are some other ones that I've used successfully:

KindheartedWomen Hemp Diapers (kindheartedwomen.com): I love these diapers, but they do have internal soakers, making them take longer to dry. But the fit is very good for my previously chunky thighed baby and they still fit fairly well as she's thinning out. The large ones are getting to be slightly too large for her, though. The mediums fit very well. With the snap-in soaker, it does pretty well, but it's not good enough for a nap.

Bijou Baby Gear Basic Hemp Diapers (Bijoubabygear.com): These are one of my favorites. I have them with snap-in soakers + doubler. However, the large ones are now getting a tad loose for Kaya and the mediums are fitting better, although they are lower in rise. By themselves, they're not good enough for a nap, but if I use a trifold hemp soaker (that I got from Calico Baby) with the snap-in soaker, it's plenty absorbent for her 3 hour nap (I replace the normal doubler with the trifold). These are great for chunky thighed babes. They are nice and trim.

Sam's Fitted (Momandmepouch.com): I LOVE these. The mediums JUST fit Kaya (they're a tad on the big side), and I think with an extra doubler, they'll be perfect for her nap time. I'm getting a bunch of smalls, which Jen thinks will fit Kaya perfectly, albeit as a low-rise diaper. I think they'll work for daily wear and I can use the mediums for nap time. These are all hemp fleece, which some people don't like the feel of, but I really do. They feel kind of like the inside of a sweatshirt and Kaya has NEVER gotten red marks from them. I think these would work regardless of chunky or skinny thighs, although I have no experience with a skinny thighed baby--just a thinning down chunkster. :) I think the smalls will be very trim. The mediums aren't too bulky.

Starbunz fleece AIOs: I have one of these "shells" that has an internal soaker, but no doubler (I got them as seconds and it didn't come with the doubler). I just put on a couple of kissaluv doublers (doesn't even have to be hemp) and one of these is perfect for nap time. They're on the bulky side, but they are absolutely adorable. I got them [link:www.starbunz.com//product_info.php?&products_id=189|here], but I think you can get them other places as well. If you go to Diaperpin.com, you can go to products and it'll give you some places where you can get them. I only have one of these, because they're too bulky to go under clothing, but they work great for her naps.

Very Baby Simply Nights: These are awesome for night time. I use them under an Aristocrat wool soaker. Kaya can go 13+ hours in these.

Benjamuffin Nightdreamers: These are also awesome for night time. It may be a tad more bulky than the VB, but both are pretty bulky. But since I'm using them only for night time, it doesn't matter (Kaya wears a sleep sack) and Kaya doesn't seem to mind the bulk.

Premium prefold with hemp doublers: These are my backups, but with a wiggly toddler, I like fitted diapers.

Even though you don't want pockets, I thought I'd mention that Snap-EZ fleece pockets and Apronstrings fleece pockets also work very well for Kaya. You may want to try pockets when you're through with the leaky poop. I love the Snap-EZ more than any other pocket, but they are more expensive than some of the others. I have 2 of her fleece pockets and a couple of her PUL ones (from when Kaya was younger and I didn't realize PUL didn't work for her).

If you notice, all of mine are breathable options because Kaya gets rashy with PUL. So I don't have any recommendations for PUL type stuff, unless you count Snap-EZ pocket diapers.

I hope this gives you some more ideas. Feel free to ask any more questions. :)

Wow, Eileen! Great suggestions! Some of those I had just started to investigate--like the Kindhearted Women, etc. Ds is definitely past the leaky poop stage--he's 9 months now and doing lots of solids! The PFs only work for us if they're trifolded and put into a cover so that we have all those layers to work with! I'm going to make a note of your suggestions! Thanks so much, Eileen. Great help.

You're quite welcome. :)

You're right about the PFs--they last longer when I quad fold them. When I snappi them, I need to add a hemp doubler or she can soak them immediately.

We have one that's still in the rotation... We tend to use fitteds more for outings, and this one is one of the more absorbent ones. It's very thick, which affects drying time a bit as well (somewhat longer than most). It can hold a lot, though.

The fit is a little bulky on these, due to the thickness. I've never seen her site with anything but seconds... I'm trying to remember (DH does most of the diaper changes, so it's been a bit since I've used this particular dipe!), but I think ours has a funny shaped doubler -- it kind of wrinkled around the edges, if that makes sense. Doesn't seem to bother DS, though.

Looks like you've gotten lots of other good advice from Eileen!
