View Full Version : are tights impractical with CDs?

What do you all do? Do ones like HA fit over CD bums? Do you use tights sometimes? I was wondering if the very tight fit would cause compression wicking with wool or wicking in general with AIOs.

We're mostly doing leggings and wool pants (fabric and knitted) but she has some dresses that just would work better with tights.

Well, I can't answer your HA question.

But DD often wore tights this past winter under pants and dresses, and we had no compression wicking issues wool or otherise. Though for the most part we do pockets.

Baby tights really aren't all that "tight" around the legs they are snug, but there was always lots of room around the bum/waist area.

We had Children's place leggings and tights and thick knit tights from Old Navy and um, Gap I think?

Well, Kaya used HA and Gymboree leggings, but I never tried tights with her. The leggings were sometimes snug, but they definitely made it over the fluffy butt with no difficulty. I didn't usually get compression wicking with wool and leggings, unless she was also in a car seat. I think I did occasionally get it with the really snug leggings, though, so it's possible the tights would be more prone to it. But I also think it would depend on the wool cover used. For example, I think my Angeldry wool interlock cover would do much better than my Stacinator stretch wool, or even some of my soakers. It would, of course, also depend on the absorbency of the diapers. You can always try it out one day and see if it's worth getting more for her other dresses.

FWIW, I myself hate wearing nylon stockings (always wear knee highs instead), so it never occurred to me to put tights on DD. :)

I hate stockings but I LOVE tights on myself. How weird is that? :)

Holli, wondering if miss Mari's bum will fit in tights..

DD wore the Hanna loose tights all last winter. They fit great over CDs. Actually all tights we've bought fit well - LE, Gap and HA.

She wears SnapEZ, FBs and AIOs.

We didn't have a problem with Hanna, Gymbo tights last winter. We didn't put them on her all that much (she just had two outfits that needed tights). This year she will have two outfits with tights again. My only problem with tights is that last year she used to slip a lot and I had to put soft shoes on her.

Well, then I am weird too! Stockings are evil things, tights are great!

We are not big wool users so I can't answer all of your question. In terms of fit, I like the Hanna tights and LE textured tights best of those we tried. I had no fit problems with those. Other tights we have tried (gap, talbotskids, TCP and Target) esp. those that are microfiber tend to bunch oddly around DD's thighs because of the CD bum. The bum gets tight and causes the thigh area to get tight in one spot but the rest just has tons of extra material all bunched up. I really can't explain this properly. In a nut shell, we have decided to stick with HA and LE for tights this year. I do wish someone would make tights with non slip feet.

Tights it is then! Thanks, mamas!

I figured we'd have to have soft shoes on in the house so she doesn't wipe out. Here's hoping she's walking soon so her dresses don't piss her off anymore. She did invent a modified crawl that makes her look like a crab if we forget to tuck in some of her long ones... Of course, a lot of her dresses from May look like swing tops now! She's much happier with them. :)

along the same line... does anyone know of anywhere to get some nice soft wool tights?
