Yipes. That stinks. Where have you had them in storage? Were they just in your house or like in an attic or basement? I'm just thinking aloud wondering if the environment could have affected them.

Fuzbaby never fit Mari right either so I sold all mine as soon as I tested them, but I had heard Lori had good customer service. Wacky.

IME (and in some local friends' experiences) Lori does NOT have good customer service. Mostly it is the way she says things, and never apologizes. Her products are very pricy, so I feel that she should stand behind them, ya know?

I know that doesn't help you Lynne, but I just wanted to say IKWYM. Catching flies with honey didn't work for me, either. :(

That doesn't seem right to me either. These didn't fit Cadie well either, so we didn't have them very long.

That does not sound right at all! I haven't used Firefly's before, but I will say that the doublers I've gotten from her "wrinkle" along the edges and some of them have lint rocks in them. That's been enough for me to stay away from the diapers. I'm so sorry that you've had such a rotten experience, but at the very least I would go to DiaperPin and MDC to rate your experience with her product and poor CS.

Hmm. . . for a long while, our FF ST was littleman's best nighttime dipe- fit was great, performance excellent, it dried quickly and was pretty trim. But I had to retire it because it just didn't fit him around the legs anymore- it gaps like crazy. I assumed that was because he started walking and his legs slimmed down, but now I'm wondering if it's also due to the elastic stretching out too much.

Anyway, that stinks- you would think that she'd be more helpful considering how pricey the dipes are, wouldn't you? Sorry it's been so frustrating!

I was just thinking about ordering a few OC and OS dipes from Lori. This thread makes me think twice... I don't know.

I only have one OC FF (the limited spring color) and it fits DS pretty well. I like how soft it is and it seems to irritate his eczema less. My experience with CS was only limited to placing an order (6 or 7 Fuzeasies) when DD was in diapers. It was a pleasant experience, but I'd want better CS when there's something wrong with the products.

Sorry you're not getting any help from FF, Lynne :( It realy sucks!

I'm so sorry Lynne. I haven't had good experience with Firefly customer service either and it's a disgrace that she is acting that way toward you. I find that both Fuzbaby/Firefly diapers are more 'fragile' than other dipes. They tend to develop holes easily IMO so I'm not surprised to hear about your elastic issue.

Thanks for the commiseration and for letting me vent. Glad to know it isn't just me that had CS issues with FF :( I'm still totally annoyed by this.

As to the storage issue, because C has been in the same size from day one of our CDing I"ve had very few dipes he's really outgrown so I just keep them in a small basket inside his closet - no extreme environmental factors there. It totally kills me that I have dipes we've been using for 18 mos (Lucy's hoe chest, angelwraps, etc) that may be mildly faded now but still work as good as day 1 yet these were used a fraction of that time (and not often when they were in the rotation because they weren't the best fit on him) and they fall apart. The elastic didn't just stretch out too much - it COMPLETELY cracked/crumbled away! There is none left. Makes me wonder if those hundred dollar diaper gardens had these same issues??

I always forget to review dipes (good or bad) so I've been working on that at MDC and Diaperpin. In a way it seems "vengeful" to me that I'm leaving poor reviews but honestly I would want to know if a dipe I was planning to buy at $20 wasn't going to hold up, or if the company was unwilling to repair it, so I'm doing it anyway. Such a bummer! I'm going to list them on my FS list with full disclosure for just a few $$ each - maybe a good seamstress who wants to try out a FF will want them.

Same thing happened to my Firefly colors. They are still in rotation, but the elastic is shot.

In fact, after using cloth for 2 years now, the ONLY diapers with the elastic still intact are my Righteous Baby.

I think it is a fallacy that CDing is cheaper. People say you can reuse them with multiple kids, and you can resell to get your money back. But I most of what I own won't fetch much at resale, except my RB which are still like new. And if I have another baby, none of these will hold in breastfed poo with no leg elastic left.

Lynne,

Thanks so much for posting this. I have yet to try fireflies - was on my list - and was thinking of buying one off tp but now will pass based on your experience.
There are too many WAHM that provide such great sc to work with one that doesnt seem to.

What it really tells me is that if you are really in it to save money, you should stick to good ole fashioned prefolds! :P

EDITED - POST THAT RASHMI IS RESPONDING TO HAS BEEN DELETED. -m

I'm sorry if I am wrong here but it seems very suspicious to me that you would register to post this praise for FFs. Are you friends with Lori or something? That is what it seems like to me.
Honestly, that ticks me off.

Lynne,

I mostly do PFs on *both* boys now. I think I'm really getting the hang of it, after a few weeks. When I get back in town we can get together & I can show you how I do it, if you'd like.

POST THAT IS BEING REFERENCED HAS BEEN DELETED. -m

I apologize if you were offended--that was not my intention, and I'm sure it wasn't Rashmi's either. We have had people register and post in the recent past for reasons that were less than savory, so I think we're a little sensitive.

I guess it's mostly because it looked like you registered just to "advertise" Lori's business and diapers. Can you understand that that might rub people the wrong way, especially in light of other previous "miscreants"? (Not your fault of course!)

Anyway, I hope that we can all play nice and you can become a part of this community.

not disagreeing to be obnoxious, i promise!!! but i did want to say that i am currently using my diapers for my second child and so far, the following dipes are working great for the second time around- prefolds, proraps, fuzzibunz, babyblankets... my JBS are worn, but perfectly usable. (and my own inserts are also worn, but working fine.) and i have a whole stash of motherease onesize and airflow covers that was used on TWO children before a friend gave them to me, so dylan is the THIRD kid to use them. and they are great! sure, the dipes are a little thinner than new. but the covers work so well, it doesn't matter. i just add a doubler if i worry about it.

i guess i am just not a fitted gal, so i am not having trouble. i have a few sugarpeas that i got just for dylan and hope to use if i have a #3. so maybe i will be back when that time comes upset that i can't use them afterall.

i am a CD-er for $$ reasons, second to environment reasons. so i guess that is kinda how i planned my stash anyway.

ITA on the Motherease. Those dipes are bullet proof, readily available and pretty awesome in general.
If you pay good money for anything, be it a diaper or a t-shirt, it better last. If not, the return policy better be pretty darn good or I will NOT be a repeat customer. I am pretty sure a lot of people have been turned off by FFs after reading this thread and for GOOD reason... elastic getting shot after a even 50 uses.. Please.. that is not acceptable IMO.

Lynne, I just wanted to say that I'm glad you posted this.

Not everyone is going to have the same experience with every diaper or other product. That is why it is important for us to share those experiences, be them good or bad. Then we all can use each other's knowledge to make wise decisions about what to spend our money on.

I feel I can trust the experiences of the long time posters here because I know that I am getting their real, honest opinions. How can we trust someone who just comes out of nowhere and shares a strong opinion, good or bad? Obviously that person might have some sort of agenda behind their post. Not that that is always the case, but lately it seems like it is.

Hugs Lynne. I'm glad you shared your experience with us!

I have 2 firefly QD fitteds that C used for maybe 4 mos before the fit was "off" so I put them away. I just recently pulled them out to check the size for Miss P and when I opened the dipes up the elastic literally crumbled and there is none left!! I cannot believe it. These were OC and cost around $20 each, so not cheapie dipes. I contacted the owner who first suggested that when latex is exposed to "unusually harsh conditions, such as sun, acid or alkaline conditions" it will degrade. I forget my highschool basic chemistry so don't recall the pH of pee but HELLLOO, these are DIAPERS designed to catch PEE and POOP!!!! And umm, I don't soak them in bleach or vinegar so I didn't appreciate the insinuation that I abused them (especially when no other dipes have had this issue, aside from a lesser known one size and that mfr admitted to an issue with the elastic she used)! Her other comment was that "under normal conditions diapers are washed soon after exposure to acidic conditions" and "when cleaned properly elastic will not fail". OK, yes you caught me - I realy DO only wash my diapers once a month and let them soak in pee the rest of the time. COME ON! When I reported to her on my wash frequency/routine and care she told me I should rip out the serging and replace the elastic myself - WTF? Even if I did own a serger to repair the edges, I should not have to do that on $20 dipes that were used MAYBE 2 dozen times! Now, I do not expect that she would give me new dipes when these ARE several months old, but maybe offer to repair them for free or maybe even just APOLOGIZE for a faulty product!?!? Anything but blame the customer!! OOh, I am just so livid I could spit nails. Stupid things never fit perfectly and I should have just sold the darn things while I could have gotten something for them. Grrr... I know there are some fuzbaby fans here but I will never, ever, EVER purchase a product from that company if they refuse to stand behind an obviously defective product.

Oh, and the reason I'm so vehement here is because I was overly nice in my correspondence with her. You know, the whole "Catch more flies with honey" theory...

Anyone else have this issue??

I'm sorry your experience with Lori has been so rotten. I hope that she takes note of the reviews you've left.

I wanted to say though that my experience with FF has been positive. They fit Lola fabulously. I purchased ours not too long before Lola potty trained so they were only gently used when I put them away for the next baby. The diapers were still in excellent condition when I pulled them out for Astrid. I've had no issues with the elastic failing whatsoever. Unfortunately the fit isn't as perfect on Astrid as it was on her sister. I've sold most of my stash of FF but still have several left. I understand why people are saying they'll never buy a FF but it upsets me that I may have a difficult time selling some great diapers in excellent condition.

And Karen, I have to say that I disagree that it's a falacy that you can use diapers with mulitple children and recoup much of your investment by reselling diapers when your done with them. That simply hasn't been my experience. I've sold much of Lola's stash of fitteds but the issue wasn't that the diapers weren't in useable condition. They were all in excellent condition as a matter of fact but they just didn't fit Astrid well. If they had, I would've kept them along with all of her prefolds which are still going strong. Anyway, on average I'd say I've sold Lola's diapers for about 60-70% of what I paid for them. That's not nothing.

I was alittle nervous reading this post because I had just purchased 3 firefly dipes off the trading post. 2 daytime and 1 night time the came today in the mail and are in wonderful condition The night time looks almost brand new. The elastic seems in great shape and with the try on fitting they seem to fit Nathan really well. I hope they hold up!

Sarah -
Sorry you were upset by the post - not my intent at all!! For me, the greater issue isn't so much the product itself as the customer service/attitude. IF these dipes worked for us I might consider buying them off the TP or swap but I would never deal directly with the company again and give them the benefit of my business. Truth be told, I probably wouldn't have even posted anything about the issue had I got even a smidge of sympathy or a hint of an "I'm so sorry this happened to you" sentiment from the company. I am fully aware that many people have had their FF dipes hold up well and who knows - mine could have been made from a bum batch of elastic, which is not *necessarily* the fault of the WAHM. After all, according to her I'm the ONLY person this has ever happened to. My issue was the fact that the elastic crumbled COUPLED with the response I got make sense? I hope it doesn't affect your ability to sell your dipes!

Lynne,

I don't blame you for posting about your experience. I would've done the same had I been in your shoes. I understand your reasons completely. And understand the sentiment that has sprung up from your post. If FF worked on Astrid, I would definitely think twice about making another purchase from Lori. Given my largely positive experience with FF in the past, I don't know that I would extend that to also not buying used FF but others obviously feel compelled to do so, as is their right.

My upset is completely selfish. I need to the sell diapers that don't work for us so that I can buy diapers that do. I appear to have lost a market for some of my diapers and considering how slow selling has been for me lately, that hurts.

Neve,

They're larges. I have two hemp/cotton Sleeptights and one hemp/cotton Quick Dry. If you're interested in them for Bronwyn, they're likely waaaaay too big and will be for awhile yet. If you're interested in them for Tristan, based on his age I'd hazard a guess that they'd probably work.
