Ok I just found out I'm pg... I starting using cloth with my DD when she was 8 months old so I haven't done a newborn in cloth yet... just wondering if anyone had any good suggestions on what to get??? Right now we use pockets in the diaper bag, and fitteds/CPF with wool at home.... when my DD was a newborn she pooped constantly sooo would CPF's be a bad thing for my new one? Also one last thing I really do prefer snaps! It it crazy to do wool on a newborn???

Thanks!
Heather

No advice either we started at 15months BUT I have a TTC stash going and my nb muttaqin's are very nicely made. I have a few sugarplumbaby that are very nice also. KHW, kissaluv and Righteous baby FLAM also have gotten very good reviews.

Congratulations!

I would take a look near the bottom of the CD101 thread, where it says newborn diapers or newborn stash or someting like that...hang on...here it is:

A snappi'd PF was perfect for Kaya as a newborn. The snappi'd PF works just as well as a fitted and sometimes better because PFs conform to any size and shape, whereas with fitted some styles work better with chunky babies or lean babies, etc. For wool...well, *I* wouldn't have done it with a newborn because no matter what diaper you use, you're going to end up with some leakage of the runny BF'd poop (somewhat different if you're Formula Feeding instead) onto the cover. I would suggest maybe one wool cover for photo-ops but otherwise stick to fleece, nylon, or PUL. With my next baby I'll probably do fleece and nylon in the newborn stage.

HTH!

I think snappi'd prefolds would be great. We used those and a few Kissaluv O's. When you're changing all the time, the cheapness of prefolds is nice.

hooray! congrats on number 2.

snappi'd prefolds (infant 4x8x4 are my pick) under proraps. or kissaluv 0's under bummis pull on or motherease airflow.

you would need a lot of wool covers to be able to wash poop off and allow to dry because poop gets on covers at least once/day if not a lot more often.

Thanks for all the suggestions.... aren't prowraps and bummis velcro though... we are really looking for snaps, my DH said he doesn't want velcro!

Yes, they are velcro. Is there a reason he's against velcro? One positive thing about velcro is that they are more forgiving when it comes to shape and size varieties in the babe.

I wouldn't use the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap, though because it doesn't have gussets. But the Bummis nylon pull-up pants are supposed to be good with newborn poop.

Babykins also has nylon covers:

Okay, let's see...covers with snaps that also have gussets...I'm blanking here...anyone?

One idea is that you could find some fleece or PUL covers made by WAHMs that also have gussets or something similar. Many WAHMs will use snaps if you request it (though I'm sure some already do so--I'm just blanking here).

i used snappi'd CPF or kissaluv 0's with a prorap cover. i don't have any experience with wool so far. i'm not sure what covers have snaps other than the motherease cover. i like that one ok but prefer the proraps.

Congrats! I have no newborn experience (DD was nearly 8 months when she came home) but there are a LOT of mamas on MDC who use wool with newborns. I know it's not a popular option here but there are many mamas who use it succesfully (some how!).

I'm right there with you on the velcro aversion. I have 100% velcro free with our stash! :)
