View Full Version : Snappi-ing a microfiber towel

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge here or not, but it just occurred to me to use a Snappi with a MF towel over a hemp doubler (don't know what kind) & it worked. I don't know the dimensions of the towel but it's one of the blue automotive kinds I got in a 6-pack, I think, at Walmart. It worked great on C, I don't know his measurements & he's sleeping right now, but it was really trim & absorbent. It held in the BF poop much better than CPFs.

Anyway, hope that helps someone.

Sounds interesting! Does the microfiber towel end up against his skin? I would be worried about that, I think.

That would be great, but I would at least line the MF towel with fleece--I think the MF towel next to the baby's skin would be too rough/drying.

Huh. I never thought this would be a no-no against his skin - the MF towels feel really soft to me. Any other reason why you guys wouldn't put this directly against DC's skin? I did have the hemp against his skin over his privates, & I don't think that's rough either. Maybe I've got tactile issues? ;)

Actually, most of my doublers and diapers are now made with hemp fleece (fuzzy side out) and I've been using that directly on Kaya's skin (no polyester fleece) with great results. I've also tried it with my Baby Bijou and Kindearted women Hemp diapers (smooth side out) against her skin and while it's not rough on her skin, she definitely gets more wet with them. I personally prefer the fuzzy side, but that's just me.

If the MF towel against his skin doesn't seem to irritate him in any way, then it may not be an issue with him.

Microfiber is like that -- to some people it feels smooth and soft, and to other people it feels like the way fingernails sound on a chalkboard. (I used to belong to the first group, but somehow now I'm in the second one.)

Hmm...I never thought about it, but I think I used to hate how it "stuck" to my hands, but I used it for cleaning because it was nice and absorbent. Then I got used to it and it no longer made me feel that way. But I do think it's kind of rough now. How odd that our tactile senses change like that!

I don't put the microfiber towels directly against skin because I think it would pull the moisture out his skin over time.
