we've been happily using HH and Ella's pockets for several months now but all of a sudden we are getting leaks during naptime (DD sleeps on her tummy). her measurements haven't changed a whole lot in the last 3-4 weeks and they are still less than what HH sizing rates for mediums. waist=17.5, rise=15 and thigh=10.5

should i just size up? should i stay with ella's? i prefer velcro but am willing to use snaps (sitter seems to have a hard time getting the hang of snaps).

thanks!

I'd get a couple of larges for naptime, maybe? Does she leak at night? You might like to try Very Baby pockets, they can be velcro. I think www.bumblebuns.com is open for customs. I don't have any pockets from her, but i do have AIOs, and they've held up well to heavy use over the last 6 or so months.

Is the fleece repelling at all?

i don't think the fleece is repelling because when i put a fresh dipe on for naptime, the MOE inserts were wet (not soaked but wet). i don't use them much at home, they are for the sitter so i'm experimenting. i've still got to figure out if the ella's are leaking, too or just the HH.

i've never gotten on the bandwagon of nighttime cloth. i just use sposies at night.

thanks for the reply, tarah!

Hmm...well, are the inserts completely soaked? If so, it may be that she's just overpowering the inserts and you need to increase the amount of absorbency during her nap (all of Kaya's naptime diapers need to be more absorbent than her regular daytime diapers).

Also, check when you put it on her--are the legs gapping? Sometimes putting too much stuffing can cause the legs to gap, especially when they lie down.

One other possibility--it is possible you have buildup on the fleece of your pockets and it's repelling the pee. Try scrubbing them with Dawn dishwashing detergent.

Baby Blanket pockets are also velcro fastened, but I think they work much better with tall thin kids. Apronstrings will work better for more average to chunkierkids and she will do front velcro if you ask. She does fleece pockets, but I think she also does PUL pockets.

HTH!

the insert wasn't completely soaked so i don't think it's a super soaker issue. plus, jean (her sitter) has allowed the dipes to get pretty soaked before.

i haven't noticed the legs gapping so i'll have to check that. we've used this system for several months now...would it just start being an issue now?

i only use tide free. what could be causing build up? jean frequently uses desitin instead of the burt's bee's that i provide - could that cause build up?

thanks for your input eileen :-)

Hmm...well, Desitin does contain fish oil, but that only causes stains as far as I know. Still, I do find Desitin to feel more oily, so that could be causing repelling fleece. Try using Dawn to scrub it out and see what happens.

For gapping legs...well, babies do change shape so it could be something like that.

Keep us updated!
