View Full Version : Nighttime option for three year old?

Abby isn't potty trained, although she could be in a day if she made up her mind to do that. She's totally body-aware. But she gravely informed me that she just isn't ready yet. That said, she rarely wets at night and she HATES her dipes now (7th Gen). We go through a battle every night about how scratchy they are, but I'm not willing to leave her bare all night. Is there a training pant cloth option that is absorbent enough to handle a three year old bladder should she need it to? If so, point me to it! We need an interim option here.

LOL, here I go again! Once again, I recommend Daisy Doodles. :) Christa makes a trainer that has snaps, but can be pulled up and down. Her DD is 3 1/2 and currently regressing with potty training, so she will totally sympathize. I recently emailed her about her trainers, since DD is thinking about making the leap, and she was great.

I promise I don't get commission! I just like her products!

www.snap-ez.com Pocket diapers lined with very soft fleece. She makes stuffable trainers, too, which I think would work for nighttime.

for some reason snap-ez didn't make it at night for us. no idea why. same stuffing as our fuzzibunz. so i would say fuzzibunz with hemp inserts and a microfiber towel. i can also loan you 2 large FB to try out, as they are too big for dylan and schuyler has potty trained. (schuyler has to wear a sposie at night because i just can't figure it out and he floods EVERY night with literally only 3 exceptions where he woke up dry.)

Body aware?? Just curious what you mean since my over-tired mommy brain is fuzzy. Do you mean she knows when she has to go but just won't use the potty yet?? If so, I hear ya on that! Caleb has been "capable" of telling me in advance for months but just refuses to use the potty for some reason :(

FWIW, when I was researching it thinking we were ready months ago, the ones I heard the best reviews on were what the PP's already recommended.

I also think that Happy Heiny's pocket trainers stuffed with an insert would work great. They are super soft, easy to use, pull up and down, and can be as absorbent as you want them to be.

I like www.lilbunz.com for these. There is a "Training Pants" section on there. Email Trisha about what insert she would recommend. I'm guessing 1-2 microfiber inserts depending on how heavily Abby wets at night.

Good Luck! We are in the same potty-training stage you are are in, and I'm hoping Josh becomes more willing before the baby arives :)

Rachel, you crack me up. I think being potty trained is akin to being a virgin. Either you are are you aren't, lol.

But, to your question, I think doing a pocket is a great idea that way you can increase/decrease your absorbancy as needed.

LOL! She isn't potty trained. I just mean she could be if she decided she wanted to be. She knows when she needs to go, knows when she IS going, knows when she's wet. She knows what the potty is and how it works and can pull her dipes off by herself. But when I tried to bribe her recently to give it more of a try, she said, "I'm just not ready yet." For whatever reason, sitting on the potty freaks her out. She HATES her diapers, though, and I'm looking for something to make bedtime less of a struggle. But because she has all of the development necessary to potty train other than the part where she actually goes and sits on the potty, I don't want to spend a ton on cloth for her at this stage. Just looking for a few things to try. :)
