View Full Version : Do I *have* to buy a special dipe for nightime?

Could I get away with adding some layers to our exisiting AIOs, or the fitteds with cover?? If I have to, it's fine, but I was just wondering. Thanks.

Not necessarily. We used pocket dipes during the day, and just added extra stuffing at nighttime. AIOs aren't usually good for nighttime as they rarely are waterproof enough to withstand a really soaked diaper.

Oh, good. I still have pockets that Holly (marinkitty) gave us, but they are so trim I never thought to use them for night-time.

I'd hate to keep buying diapers and then DS magically potty-train one day... ;) What do I do with the leopard diaper then :) ?

I not only add extra inserts to my pockets ( fuzzibunz) but I put an extra cover on it. just to be sure he doesn't wake up all wet. It may not be breathable enough for some bottoms, though. I have had no issues.

It's definitely worth trying the pockets with some extra stuffing and if needed a wool cover or something equally breathable.

And you can always give him the leopard diaper as a hat...two of Kaya's favorite covers are also her hats, sigh. ;)

And as for the magically potty-train...well, since your mom did do the work with him earlier on, it's quite possible. I'll just say that we weren't even planning to start until after the holidays, but Kaya had other plans. Will this work and will she become potty trained? Well, it's hard to tell, but I'm just going with the flow and in the meantime, not buying any more diapers. Of course, my Elbees are actually supposed to arrive this week, but maybe I can find them a good home or save them for the next baby....

Let me know if you're looking for a good home for them. :) I think right now I only need an extra cover or two, but I can't resist :)

I think Kaya and Erik are similar sizes (heck, I don't even know what size my boy is anymore)... And we use the upgraded fiteds courtesy of Kaya daily :)

Well, talk to me in a couple weeks, but Erik may be able to use at least one of Kaya's night time diapers. We actually have 5 night time diapers right now, which is actually more than we need. I'm still trying to decide, but I may sell off one of my Very Baby Simply Nights. :)

Eri, I know Cadie is younger than Erik, but we have used double stuffed aio's at night before. In a pinch I add a doubler or two to my more absorbant dipes. I've used the following:
Fitteds:
S.O.S. with doubler and wool
AIO's:
Very Baby w/extra doubler
Mudpie with extra set of soakers
We usually just use our Fuzzibunz with 2 JoeyBunz.
And I have a nightime fitted that I can send to you if you feel you need it. It's a Benjamuffin Nightdreamer size Large. :)

You can add absorbency to a fitted, no problem. In fact, one of our current night dipes is a Motherease, bulked up with a MOE insert and a fleece-topped Sugarpeas doublers. The only true night time dipe I have is a Benjamuffin Nightdreamer. All the others are standard fitteds with a MOE insert and hemp doubler added.
