View Full Version : Oh my gosh, they're here, they're here!

After 10 long months, the Elbees arrived in my mail today! And oh, they are so beautiful! I've been sort of PT'ing Kaya so I'm torn, but maybe it's all for naught because as soon as Kaya saw them, she grabbed the purple one, asked me to help her unsnap them and then she proceeded to pull it over her underwear! Yep, she wanted me to help her put it on. I'm mostly putting Kaya in underwear for around the house and have done it on short trips, so I'm not going through diapers so long so I'm trying to figure out if I want to use these for Kaya's naps or if I should save it for the next babe. Or I could recoup quite a bit with my diaper budget if I were to put it on the swap, but now that I've seen them, I don't know if I could bear to part with them! ;)

Laura was so nice and because it took so long, she offered to make us an extra (I chose a wooly bully) and to dye them all! So here are pics of the diapers/cover, but none on Kaya, since I didn't want her to Christen them. ;)

oooh those are nice! I've been on the list for about 2 years now, I hope my number comes up soon. I have some from others who have generously shared their order, but I want more.

I never thought diapers could be so beautiful - I mean not cute, but just downright gorgeous!

That's a tough decision Eileen...

Wow they are SOOOO lovely! (I love our woolly bully- unbelievably trim and so pretty!) Most of our (few) fitteds are elbees I bought used, and they are by far our fave fitteds. I wish we had more.

Congrats on finaly getting your order!

Yes, I actually told my neighbor that they were works of art! She's an artist and she definitely agreed. :)

I just think I'll never get another chance to get these diapers again that I will probably at lest hold them for the next baby.

That reminds me--these are pocket fitted with TWO inserts in them each and they're still amazingly trim! My other pocket fitted diapers are huge compared to these.

mudder17
11-07-2005, 10:39 PM
I can't stop cuddling them, LOL! Yes, Kaya grabbed it, rubbed it against her face and then wanted to put them on. She isn't a huge fan of diapers right now (actually, she doesn't really want underwear on either--she'd rather go butt naked), so that's saying something!

Eileen, don't you DARE put these on SWAP!!! You've waited too long for these, girlie! :) They are YUMMY! Save them for the next babe or put them in one of those glass cases (you know the ones they have at Michael's that people display the christening gowns in) if you have to, but you are going to enjoy these dipes one way or another! Maybe they'd fit one of the cats????? - just kidding ;)

Hee, hee, both of those thoughts crossed my mind. I saw the glass cases at Michael's the other day, so the idea was fresh on my mind. And yes, I laughingly pictured one of them on our cat. ;)

It is. I was thinking of the dipes for the next baby if it was a boy and DH said it would work great because purple is GN and burgundy is a beautiful color for boys and girls. It's one of DH's favorite colors--he has many shirts in that color. Well, actually, anything in the purple family. :D

I am so glad your arrived. I've been meaning to email you and ask :) Yours are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! JUST GORGEOUS!!!! what color is the 2nd dipe? is the cover red/purple or pink/purple?

I'm still awaiting mine :(

mudder17
11-08-2005, 01:45 PM
Bummer! You have to show us yours when they finally arrive. I was hoping that you all had your diapers as well. :( She actually shipped it less than a week ago, so this time, at least, Canadian mail was fast! I believe the colors of my two dipes are pinky amethyst and dusty purple. And the cover is pink/purple. I noticed she's going to start an instock store soon, maybe after her current customs (i.e. your order) is complete?

I did get an email from her about 10 days ago about shipping them but she was going to confirm my addy. I hope she didn't accidentally ship them to my old address. I would likely still get them but just with more of a wait.

I decided to change the sizes for all my stuff and start building a little baby stash for a future baby. Here's what I have coming, (and am glad that I LOVE yours b/c those are two colors that I ordered, woohoo!)

small/medium dusty purple
small cantelope
small sky blue
xs pinky amethyst

Wooly Bully:
small orange/yellow daytime
small/medium purple/red nighttime

11-08-2005, 01:58 PM
Oh my gosh, the future baby is going to be adorable with that stash!!! I hope she sent the diapers to the right address!! I kept with a medium long and I think it'll work, but if Kaya doesn't wear it much, it'll be a while before I use them regularly. Hmm...now I need to look for someone else's number to come up so I can get some small Elbees. ;)

Thanks Juliet! I really appreciate being added to your list and although it took a long time, I got a cover and some dye-jobs to make up for it and wow, what an amazing result!

Okay, I think these are definitely staying, although whether Kaya will actually use them or if I'll save them for the next baby is still up in the air. But here are a few pics that will stay up until tomorrow (I leave for vacation):

Eileen, my post from yesterday didn't show up (it was along the lines of "So beautiful, but what's an Elbee and why the wait?") but I just wanted to say Kaya looks so much like you in the last photo. I love her tumbling and rolling; so cute. The diaper looks trim there.

Those are some gorgeous dipes!! WOW! I thought I couldn't like anything more than my OV ElBee's but now I see that OV DYED ElBees are even more amazing. Laura is so frustrating to work with but it's hard to stay mad at her when she turns out work like that - totally drooling! I had sworn off future elbee purchases but now.....

Hee, hee, I know what you mean. I actually didn't get too frustrated since I had plenty of dipes that worked for us. I suppose if I can get on someone's order, I might actually get diapers for the next newborn by the time the newborn is conceived and here! ;)

does anyone know what number ElBee is working on now? I have a number, but it has been almost 2 years since I placed my order.

aliceinwonderland
11-10-2005, 01:53 PM
Diapers are cute and Kaya, oh my, such a beautiful girl...Did she grow overnight or have I missed recent pics??

This is an honest question: what is the cult appeal? Is it a special material, exceptional craftswomanship or what?? 2 years seems like such a long time, but what do I know, I never have ordered any diaper with a waiting list or whatever...

kitmama
11-10-2005, 08:19 PM
I think it's probably the exceptional craftsmanship, and also the excellent design- my elbees are some of the trimmest, yet most absorbant daytime fitteds we own. They look adorable on and the attention to detail is amazing. Our elbees are by far our fave fitteds, and ours are secondhand! They really are different.

That said, I've not bothered to get on the list for them. On the one hand I wouldn't mind waiting, but on the other hand who knows whether we'll still need them by the time she gets around to making them? I know there's the possibility of another baby, and/or I could make the money back selling them on SWAP. But I've decided, why go there? If I want some more I will keep an eye on SWAP and eBay. (There are two beautiful elbees on eBay right now, as a matter of fact. . .)

So, I understand the appeal, but I'm also not one to do the waiting list thing. Yet. ;)

ok, that clarifies it. They do look very nice in the pictures too :)
